Maybe the PES lifecycle has come to an end......

Just like ISS eventually got canned, maybe Seabass and his crew need to freshen things up with a different title to their football franchise, signifying a different direction.....

If 2010 would have a new engine then it wouldn't surprise me that we will play the full game in 2011. With new engine always come big problems

Far from it...I just love this franchise more than most things... Wife included!
And want to know peoples thoughts on the PES as a whole, not just the current years release.

Is PES going to survive?

Yes PES will survive, there's No Doubt about that.. Why?? Because their "Loyal" (sometimes pathetic) Fans will keep buying the same shite year after year.

That said, Konami NEEDS to come up with a Next Gen Engine, a New Engine. They have keept the same engine for years Now -and- it is Obvious that the Current Engine CANNOT get past PES5.

PES5 was better than PES6 -even- though PES6 was supposed to be a polished and "Improved" version of PES5.

Konami has Now gone back to PES5 -because- the Series has improved for the Worst since then. So, fair enough, we are still playing PES5 in 2009..

Bottom Line is that people will Not keep buying PES5 or PES6 year after year.. this year it sounds like a treat, considering How Bad PES08 was. However, it's about Time Konami Introduces a New Engine -a- Next Gen Engine for a Next Gen game.

If Not, Konami will survive, the same Fans will keep buying the same shit year after year.. But at the very least, a Few Loyal Fans will get fed up of the same BS.

I played PES 6 on the ps2 yesterday and though its a great game, the keepers are truly, truly awful! I mean they get beaten at their near post so often and spill the ball in the most stupid places.....

After playing that, I decided on putting PES 5 in the machine for comparison purposes and it is alot better....

One thing I noticed is that the collision system is much more comparable to FIFA 09, in that players do notice each others weight.....

Also I preferred the palette colour of the kits in comparison to PES 6, they seem less true, i.e magnolia rather than a bright white....

I really hope PES 2009 follows PES5's qualities

You do see where this all leads to, don't you?? The Current Game Engine CANNOT get past PES5, PES5 is the best game that can be accomplished with the Old Engine.

I agree with Most in that a version of PES5 with polished Movements and great Graphics will make one good game -But- Konami needs to start working on a New Engine IF they want to produce a "Complete Overhaul in Every Aspect".

^Agreed. But still I'll be happy with an updated pes 5, wirth better graphics, passing, dribbling, keepers, animations (for sure they'll be better), etc...

what if pes2009 flops so badly that Konami sack seabass, he then gets snapped up by EA to assist in producion of FIFA.

My point is, how long will konami give seabass before they have had enough. They need to be seen making progress.
