Problem with ranking games

To start i'm not the best pes player in the world but neither am i the worst but i'e noticed while playing online that when i have a friendly game everything seems to work fine no ghosting or lag and i have some pretty competitive games win some lose some, but when i join a match room hosted by someone else in ranking games i am getting totally killed losing 5 and 6 nil most times, i cannot keep possesion of the ball my opponents seem to magically jump 10 yards past when i try to tackle and i just cannot try as i might even come close to winning a game.I am beginning to wonder is there something funny going on in ranking games because this just does not happen to me in friendlies.
Has anyone else noticed this or is i just something going on with my connection even tough i have nearly always a green connection.

Any help.
