Guys and girls

Can I ask for some help? I brought PES09 the other day. Game looks amazing.

however when I play a game or do some training, every time the ball goes to one of my players he just boots it as hard as he can in the direction he is facing.

I have a joystick and have selected this hardware in the options. no joy.
