PS2 vs Next Gen PES

I guess like most of us I'm used to PES on PS2 until I got an xbox360 for 2009.

Is it just me or is the next gen version just plain wrong. Maybe it's just the pads or something but I can't stand it.

The ball physics have gone out the window - it feels like i'm playing on an ice rink and the passes are all the same and too fast. It's just feels so unrealistic, almost like playing FIFA 2005 or something. The graphics are great but I'm on the verge if trading it for the Ps2 version.

I've played enough games to get used to it, maybe 60 or 70.

Am I going mad? Please help!

Well, there are some things beter in next gen pes, but some things like bal physics were better in the ps2 version.
But overall, I like the ps3 version more.
If I ever want to play a ps2 version, I would play pes 5.

The Next Gen Versions ARE NOT FOOTBALL.

That's what wrong with them.

If you take PES6 and make the "Shooting" more realistic, added a few New Animations and Stats. It would be a far more respectable "Simulation" than that Arcade game PES09.

The "ball physics" or passing in PES09 aren't that bad IMO. The thing that's wrong with them is that they are Excessively Assisted by the COM.

And as a result it's always the same Pace on the Pass. It gets boring and one-dimensional after awhile. Just like everything else in the game.

As for Pace.. the other day I was playing against Barcelona and Samuel Eto'o ran, literally ran a "perfect" Semi-Circle around my defense and through the Penalty Area. I have never ever seen anyone do such a thing in Real Life Football, nobody, not even the fastest ones.

yeah, I experienced the same problem. I've played so many games on BAL and I tried to start ML several times, but couldn't get hooked on it the same way on PS2. Don't know what happened. I did also feel the "ice skating" thing too.

Since this is the only game I play on PS3, I have seriously considered selling my ps3!

I bought a ps3 the day i found out the the champions league mode was not on the ps2 version, so i felt that i needed to upgrade, but there is no big difference between pes2009 for ps2 and for ps3, nothing impressive
