PS3 Pauses when ball goes out of play. Why?

Can anyone offer me a solution?

Everytime the ball goes out of play, the whistle blows (as you'd expect) and the game pasues for anthing up to 2 seconds.
SCEE said there is nothing wrong with the hardware and should try reinstalling the system software. I did, and problem remains.
Konami said they have never heard of such a problem, but suggest reinstalling the game software. I did, and problem remains.

The gameplay is very disturbing, stopping and starting and stopping and starting, yes I know, I should keep the ball in play! But even then, when a goal is scored, and you cant tell if its in or out of the net, I now have a 2 second pause while the PS3 thinks about it. Pissed off.

With the online lag still a big issue with me, I doubt very much if I'll play this game again if I cant sort this current problem out. What a awaste of hard earned money. Konami you make me sick.

Trading this game in for Part Ex for Wipeout HD or Soul Calibur IV.

if its happening online ,its lag ,i suggest using an ethernet cable in your playstation and only playing players who have an ethernet cable in their playstation

also only play ppl from your country eg:uk ,and dont play ppl with different languages

I'm using an Ethernet cable.
I've only EVER played UK based people, mainly my best mate, who lives 5 miles away using an Ethernet cable.

The pausing happens OFFLINE, single player & double player, all modes (exhibition, cup etc) online also.

Basically either my PS3 is knackered (which Sony said it isn't when I took it in to be repaired) or I'm going a tad mental.

Yep, when Konami first asked me to reinstall I gave it a go then, before the reinstall, and the problem was the same.

cannot understand how its possible to have that much slow down on a normal game ,try deleting game data before you acutally uninstall and install again or just try deleting that little folder

the only other things i can think of is ,is there enough space left on your hard drive to run the game ,and is your tv HDTV i hear that causes the game to lag but not at the levels your experiencing

are you sure its not the disk. try using your friends copy and see if that works.

I've around 6GB space on Hard drive, but if the game installs and the rest is run from the hard copy, surely you dont need any extra Memory to run the thing? If so, whats the point of a hard drive at all!

Deleting game data...wouldn't that reset all stats? (small price to pay I know) I'll give it a go.

Yeah, my TV is SD - so the play is a tad jumpy, but that is throughout the game, not specifically when the ball goes out of play.

We have tried that I'm afraid, all to no avail.

i would take your PS3 and your copy of PES08 to sony and show them and if they still say theres nothing wrong ,threaten them with trading standards if they still dont, go to trading standards ,if you win with them ,sony and konami will be forced to compensate you
