PS3 version Multiplayer?

Does anyone know if the PS3 version of PES 2009 will include a decent multiplayer mode? One of the biggest setbacks of PES 2008 was the lack of the option to play against a couple of mates on a single console without writing down match results on a piece of paper like it was 1990. Sure, you could play a cup, but with an odd number of players, one would always be wildcarded. I'm a big PES fan, mostly because I enjoy playing it with a couple a friends that I can taunt without the use of a headset. I think I will buy it anyway, but does anyone know if the newest release does have a friends league mode or something similar? I haven't seen any screenshots indicating this so far, and I'm sorry if this has been already discussed.

It has been confirmed on WENB you can ahve 32 human players for the Champions League Mode so you should have the same in every other mode

Thanks for the answer, but that's not what I meant. Let's say three guys want to play each against all including re-matches without any AI opponents. In PES 2008 on PS3 you couldn't do that. You had to play friendly matches and remember results. I just don't get why a so-called Next-Generation football game lacks such essential functionality, especially since on the PS2 version this worked well. I just hope it will be possible in PES 2009, and I thought maybe someone in this forum might have some info on that.

I think I get what your on about!!! You don't want to enter a multi-player cup mode, but just want a few friendly matches!! Like they had on the PS2 memory card battle thing?? Where they kept records of each score and stats n stuff.

This actually was possible in PES 2008. You could just set up a league with for example 4 player teams and 0 cpu teams. And then play a full season or half season and you would get a table and everything. I actually did this a couple of times and it was quite fun. The computer didn't fix the order of the matches though, so you had to pick which match to play each time yourself, but that's not a big problem. I hope this option returns in 2009, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Thanks Aghshar,
it works that way. Not nearly as convenient as in the older versions of PES though, let alone the lounge mode of a competing game whose title I dare not to mention on this forum. I really hope Konami will work on this. Playing against a couple of friends while having a beer together still beats any fancy-shmancy legend mode. Mr. Seabass should keep that in mind.
