Hello.

I'm a fan of the FIFA series. I've been playing since Fifa '97. My latest purchase was of course UEFA 2004 and I was rather dissapointed. I was hoping that it would have improved the FIFA 2004 engine a lot, but it really hasn't. It DOES have some nice new features, but the game is so restricted. Another issue with the game is the various bugs and the fact that EA aren't planning on releasing a patch (I can't even sub my players w/out the game crashing).

While trying to search for mods for UEFA 2004, I came across a forum post talking about PES. At first I thought, PES? like the PEZ dispensers? (hah.. yeah lame joke >.<), but I've been looking into PES for the last few days. I heard it allowed for a lot more realism and free play, and that certain situations weren't always scripted like FIFA's. Well that right there got my attention..

So I have some questions that you guys will hopefully fill me in on (sorry if they have already been answered.. =\).

1.) Will there be a lot of leagues? (EPL, Serie A, etc.)
2.) If so, will teams relegate to lower divisions and vice versa?
3.) Will players have their REAL faces like in FIFA?
4.) If so, appx. what percent of the players? (In FIFA's UEFA 2004 it was about 20% or so)

Well that's about it.. thanks :)

1.) Will there be a lot of leagues? (EPL, Serie A, etc.)
Ans.) So far PES has a Master league, divided into 4, Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western. Plus a Division 2, in which u start off and try qualifying to one of the 4 stated above. During master league, u get to play cup games. When u qualify to 1st division, u get to play cup games, plus champs league games (which u need to win the 1st division for/or even place 1st-4th to qualify), and in case u come out in 5th or 6th place, not sure, u qualify to another euro cup. There isnt any independent leagues, which i hope will be available in PES4.

2.) If so, will teams relegate to lower divisions and vice versa?
Ans.) Yes, u do get relegated/promoted, not straight away though, whether ur relegated/promoted, last 2 division 1 teams play with 1st 2 division 2 teams in a group, and the 1st 2 in that group gets to stay in/promote to div 1, while the other 2 stay in/relegate to div 2.

3.) Will players have their REAL faces like in FIFA?
Ans.) Are u seriously comparing FIFA faces to PES? lol! and u even call them REAL?? sorry man but u seriously need PES coz its much much MUCH more realistic, and u get to edit faces too.

4.) If so, appx. what percent of the players? (In FIFA's UEFA 2004 it was about 20% or so)
Ans.) If ur still talkin bout how REAL the looks are, dude i'd say 100% lol.

So in conclusion.... get ur ass to the nearest store and buy PES!!!! man Fifa is shite compared to PES, take my word, if i had the time to explain more, i wouldve, but theres just too much to talk about ;)

and yes it is more free.. and allows you to not have the ball on a string.. which may seem bad.. but in the long run.. it is awesome.. and it makes you work for goals too.. don't expect to hit a volley for the first month atleast.. but when u do.. you are allowed to mental... and run around the room...

1)Ignore all the EA crap about pretty team badges & whoooppeee real stadium names.
2)Get down to the real biz of G.A.M.E.P.L.A.Y!
3)Go for substance over style for once.
4)Check out the "hints & tips" part of the forum once you buy PES.
5)Have a look at the variety of moves/goals you can do on the goal gallery on this site & others.
6)Enjoy your new life.

I was referring to PES4, which is set to be released October 2004 if I'm correct.

Player's real faces - as in Beckham's face, Zidane's face, etc. I saw a screenshot of a few players faces, so my question was asking if ALL the players have their own unique face. Since there is a face editor, I will be sure to add my own unique ones if not.

Few more questions:

1.) Editing - will we be able to editor how things look in game? (Main menu, scoreboard, kits, loading screens, etc., teams and leagues, player names and visuals)
I know there will be a face editor (and thank god :D), but I'm concerned about the other things.

2.) Commentary - Will there be commentary at all?

3.) Controllers - will there be support for a Gamepad?
(and can you change what each button does? this bugged me about FIFA.. I couldn't do ANY special moves b/c they were bound to the right analog stick, and I don't have any analog sticks..)

4.) Patches - will there be patches released on a regular basis?

Well as long as there's a face editor and the ability to modify the game's looks and so forth, I will be sure to buy it. Graphics don't matter too much, it's mainly gameplay (take Fallout2 for example.. greatest game of all time in my book :D).. I do feel that in a soccer game, names and teams need to be accurate, and so should their faces. If any of that is wrong, it just doesn't seem right to me.

I don't think I'll buy PES3 since I just wasted $40 on UEFA 2004 (no need to spend more money on a soccer game so soon)... I'll wait for PES4 and will probably buy it.. that's a good 4 months from now tho.. :(

you be able to edit all players stats and looks team names, maybe even league and cup names, kits, if you have the pc version there no doubt wil be a patch that comes out where every thing will be exsact to the real teams

there will be commentary no doubt its will be pritty crap if pes3 commentary is anything to go by. but it should be much inproved for pes 4

i use a pad for pes3 so i dont see why they wouldnt have compatbillity for 1 on pes4 and you can set the buttons

there will be many patches from konami and from users of the game who want upto date kits and realisum

AND YOU PLAY IT AND NEVER TOUCH FIFA AGAIN BECUASE THERE IS NO CONPARISON IN GAME PLAY

some 1 else will give proper details of what can be done this is a rough guide to the game

seriously dude, i really feel sorry for u. 1st coz u havent played pes till now! i duno how u managed to.. but.. anyway.. 2nd is how on earth can u compare UEFA 2004 to pes! man... man.. seriously man.. dude im speechless lol. we ALL played Fifa and we ALL say its shit. maybe 1% say its not coz prolly theyre playin around or played pes once or never even touched it! i swear its the best football game ever man. i mean i play football in real life and i love it to death. i played Fifa coz i love football, then i found pes and since then never touched fifa again! if ur a real footballer mate, ud love it. simply coz u feel its just too real. u just control the players the way u like. passes, throughs, long balls, crosses, tackles, pressing, saves, dribbling, special moves, headers, diving headers, volleys, overhead kicks, man did i forget anythin? theyre all so damn real! plz.. for football's sake.. get it :)

I played Fifa 98.
I recently played fifa 2003.
Lami's right, in comparison with PES they're shit. 2003's just better looking shit.
But shit is still shit.

Just thought I'd go into technicalities for a moment.

Yeah mate, PES4 should be awsome, am I right in saying you are going to be getting the pc version? if so then I'm pretty sure that will be online. But even if its not, its a gonna be a great game and highly customisable. You're right bout Euro 2004, its a very restrictive game, and shooting just annoys me, you have no control whatsoever.

Stick around, look around the forums, there's alot bout PES games past and present, so no need to take our word for it..the proof is all there.

This gameplay would be nice with FIFA's grafx :p

It seems like everything is going just a little bit too fast.. The game speed needs to be toned down a tiny tiny bit.

Winning Eleven 8 (PES 4) is coming to PC right?

I saw the screenshots and the teams (my team Denmark :D) had Flags on their shirts and not the actual team logo.. ppl better make patches to fix that! ;D

and denmark's uniform didn't look like their uniform.. I'm pretty sure they just signed a huge deal with puma, so that might be why... The Hummel uniforms looked so cool tho, especially the GK ones! boo.

I've only played about 10 matches so far.. 15 min games - 3 star difficulty..

Half the time I win, half the time I lose.. and sadly I've lost to the U.S.A. I can't seem to do anything good when shooting on Free Kicks.. the curling thing is confusing. I can't even curl the ball when shooting normally! I don't like how everything goes so fast. You should be able to slow the game down by building up; your defenders are always scrambling around when your passing back there. and I love actually being able to dribble past people!! It's friggin awesome faking them out and blowing right past em! :D

Ahh another downside.. Italy being overrated , and teams being underrated (Greece, Denmark, Czech Rep.)..

I'm so happy that I bought this game.. I'd rate it a good 9/10

ah well the good thing is that u can manipulate their abilities to wat u think is more realistic :) about building up.. i do that too.. and it works.. u just have to get used to the game and remove Fifa off ur mind.. hehe.. cmon y do u think italy's overrated mate?

Italy's rating is top notch in the game. They used to be top notch, and they aren't anymore. They do have skilled players, but they don't seem to function well together. Italy used to rock... back when they had Ravanelli and Vialli (Juventus was also my favorite team back then ;) )
