R2

Would appreciate some tips on the use of the R2 button.

Seems everyone is criticising the long balls on this game and I have to say it was my favourite part of the much older versions of ISS but using R2 you can still get height on your long balls no? Also the L1 and triangle lofted through ball if you hold on longer it goes higher doesnt it?

With shooting it can be hard to get the bal in the top corner, I hate scoring goals when the ball is smashed the whole time along the floor, it's too easy to score this way for me.

I get the feeling mastering the R2 button could be the key to more enjoyable matches!!

Any thoughts would be appreciated as well as thoughts on my previous rant about the 'ball hitting the net'

Cheers

R2 is the most important button in PES2008. More so than ever before. If dribbling on the edge of the box it makes it harder for the com to take the ball of you. Just be aware of the slow speed.

When facing an opponent one-on-one, use R2 when approaching, use up or down then aim diagonally while letting go of R2 & hitting R1 instead, should make you dummy then spint. Works for me anyway.

Yes R2 still makes the keeper (or free kick taker) hit the ball high & long. Also works to loft in corners.

For shooting, R2 allows the player more control on the shot. You will tend to still place the ball along the floor though. With a good striker it can be easier to find the corners from outside the box.

Best of all, R2 allows some neat drag back/side tricks to really piss off a human opponent. Doesn't always beat the com though...

Yeah it's a pretty important button when you think about it. Thanks for your views, I have to say for me I love the long ball thing, just need to get the R2 button going, do you hold it before the other button or just when you let go of O ? What do you reckno of the lofted through ball that used to be a surefire way of getting in on goal

From set pieces, hold the R2 button while 'powering up' as it were.

Personally i love lofted through balls, my only issue is that often they are under hit using triangle R1 combination. I tend to favour manual pass as then at least if it goes astray it's my error.
