I love watching these arguments from the sidelines :)

Some people say PES10 is going to be awesome and its much better than 09.

Then other people say PES10 is already crap and they arent going to buy it.

Then the same people who say the game is going to be awesome say "wait for the demo to come out before you judge it."

But how can you know if the game is going to be awesome? you too will have to wait to judge im afraid. You cant say it will be good or bad yet, you just dont know!

"Well i played the demo, thats what its for..." you will say to me. Thats what the people who thought it was crap said, and thats why they wont buy it....

Your all having a go at eachother for nothing. Its craaaazy :)

pes 10 is not slightly better than pes 09, it's much better. Unlike last year, I keep thinking about the match even after it. That's enough to prove that the game is really enjoyable and I enjoy only realistic games.

^^ me too, i finish the game and think, 'WHY COULDNT MY GOALIE JUST SAVE THAT SHOT'.

but he never does, its a recurring dream, the ball just trickles past him each time. then i wake up and realise that i am actually in the middle of the next game, and i am about to kick off... but its not half time yet?!

lol

I fail to understand why everyone in this forum has to create their own thread to voice their problems with PES. It's always hilarious how every previews their post with "I've been playing PES since *insert arbitrary date here*" as if that gives them more credibility than the other 1,000 threads of identicle nature.

Really, if you have an opinion of the game post it in a pre-existing thread. All your doing is gunking up the sub-forum.

^ I echo this mate. So many threads have become alike. But i have to say that i think many fifa players have created an account in here since i've joined.. Back then we didn't see that much rivalry as i recall..

lol.ok, quite funny. I've got a better one for you though:

IF you play Fifa you must have some serious nightmares about keepers. I can't imagine what it must be like; waking up in a pool of sweat, unsure as to what your keeper will do next? Will he do a save that isn't even possible, or will he be one of the most malcoordinated and incompetent keepers in the history of time, and either watch the ball fly slowly over his head without even making an attempt to get it or will some horrendous glitch occur (this could be a number of things)? Lol, the amount of keeper bugs which have been found are scary to say the least! To go to bed secure in the knowledge that your keeper will do something painstakingly stupid most games, or some keeper glitch will occur which will render the game pointless must be heartbraking.

lol, pes keepers can be a liability, but i find consistently they are just above average (which i can live with). At least i know where i stand, and thankfully because of this I have managed to sleep like a baby for these past 8 years knowing that my keeper 'might have done better with that effort', but so could have the oppositions. 'Even stevens'.

I know what i would rather

P.S. My mate has Fifa and i have played on it a fair bit so i know what i'm talking about. i haven't had sleepless nights though as i don't own the game

"Ok you guys this is the PES Goalkeeper training course, i expect all you goalkeepers to be ready in game because there are going to be many players out there who are going to be counting on you! I want you all in tip-top shape!

Ok first things first, stretch your arms upwards...... OMG wtf are you guys doing?"

I've never found the keepers bad when dealing with shots above their heads.

The worst thing is quite often when they are diving to the side for the ball, their arms are sometimes not fully stretched. Its like they just need to make that bit more of an effort!

your right there - they are far from perfect on FIFA though.

I still believe that heading is better on PES though - even on last years version

Man, after reading all these threads over the past few weeks, I feel really lucky to be a complete newbie to football video games.

All this talk about PES, and how it's lost its way in the current generation, and how FIFA is so much better now, I just don't get it. Perhaps because so few people are posting any specific examples of how FIFA's gameplay is better. It's all vague "PES keepers are crap" and "FIFA is more sim" comments, with nothing to back it up. And I'm not trying to be confrontational. I honestly am just too new to these games, and to the sport of football in general, to get where you're coming from, based on such unspecific remarks.

Here's what I know: I know that after downloading the FIFA 09 demo last year, and spending several hours with it, I walked away feeling as if the sport of football was just inscrutable to me. I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to be doing at any given moment, beyond the obvious "get the ball into the other teams net whilst keeping the other team from getting it into mine." Fast-forward to a few weeks ago, and I download the FIFA 10 demo, as well as the PES 2010 demo, to determine which game (if any) I'm going to buy. I play FIFA first. Looks great, if a little sterile. Animations are impressive. Pitch is nice. Commentary is convincing. I play several matches, and although I do manage to score some goals, I still have nearly no idea what I'm fundamentally supposed to be doing.

Then I switch to the PES demo. The first thing I notice is that the animations aren't nearly as smooth as FIFA's. Then I notice that the controls aren't quite as responsive. But there's something about it that I can't put my finger on, so I keep playing. After the first match, I play another. I begin to get used to the controls. Then I realize that something interesting is happening. I'm finally beginning to get it. I'm beginning to understand the flow of the game, how to move the ball around to create space. I also clearly begin to see which players stand out.

Now, maybe I'm talking out of my ass, but I think that says a lot about the quality of gameplay in PES versus that of FIFA. The PES demo has, in effect, succeeded in teaching me how to play football (albeit on a very basic level) where FIFA failed. I feel as though I understand the sport much better now because of the the AI in PES. That to me is enough to make up my mind on which game to buy. That, plus the fact that PES is just a lot of fun. Whereas I was able to score a goal within my first 3 matches of the FIFA demo, it took me about a dozen matches of the PES demo to score my first goal. But I was never frustrated, and I never wanted to quit playing, because I was still having fun. And that first PES goal felt so satisfying.

So, anyone who would like to educate me on why my thinking is wrong; anyone who wants to explain to me why my opinions are naive and ignorant, please feel free. I'm being serious. Please, explain to me, in terms that I'll be able to understand, why you think FIFA plays a better game of football than PES.

To be honest, from playing FIFA10 (The full game) and PES2010 Demo, it seems to me that FIFA are the ones that are stuggling.
The game is worse then last year. FIFA09 was a much better game. I could rate FIFA09 around 9/10, but FIFA10 would have to be 8/10 for me.

PES have evolved this year. It's like a brand new game (Which it is, but you know what I mean?).
There has been more improvement made to PES2010 than PES2009, than FIFA has from 09 to FIFA10.
FIFA are the ones that are lagging behind this year. Not that FIFA is the worse game, no no no no, FIFA may be better than PES this year, it's just that Konami have done more work than FIFA to get where they are now, PES2010.

:)

No wonder Pes is lacking.

I did write a massive reply but this website crashed and i couldnt be bothered to post.

In summary, Pes is easy to play. My grandma can play it. Fifa (on manual) isnt and most people would give up after 5 minutes and assisted is useless.

No offense, mate, but this is exactly what I was talking about. You make this generalized statement that PES is easy and FIFA isn't, without citing anything to back it up. I understand that you say you wrote a massive response before the website crashed, in which you may have brought up some interesting points. But if you didn't want to rewrite it all, then why bother at all?

And I have to respectfully disagree with your statement. I don't find PES to be easier than FIFA at all. Please don't mistake my confession that I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to be doing whilst playing FIFA to mean that I found it too difficult. I managed to win several FIFA matches, and I was playing it on manual. The problem is, with FIFA, there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why I was scoring goals or getting goals scored against me. And most of them resulted from 1 on 1 battles with the keepers. I may be new to football, but I know enough about it to know that isn't how most goals are scored in real games.

PES, on the other hand, forced me to play football properly in order to beat the AI. When playing the PES demo, I feel as though I have to be creative and try different things, whereas with FIFA I can just do the same thing over and over again, and the AI just does the same thing over and over again, as well.
