"Safe" free kicks

Hey,

I am having problems with safe free kicks that are not necessarily scoring related. On my own half and just want to make a quick safe pass.

Doesn't always work and especially playing against friends, they can see where the ball is going.

So any ideas of how to take non-scoring free kicks in a safe controlled way?

If you're playing against people, then it's very difficult to avoid them intercepting the ball. You can try aiming the ball to your striker (or away from your desired target), then press the ground pass button until the power gauge is full. This will hopefully make your mates think you're going to hoof it up the park, but it will actually go to your nearest player as a ground pass.

This will only work once or twice, unless your friends are thick.

Your best bet is to pass long balls forward and fight for the ball, or long balls to a tall or strong (high body balance) player.

Thanks. Will give it a try

But ridicolous that it should be that hard to make a controlled free kick and keep the ball within your team

When taking direct FKs, it's possible to aim one way, but shoot another by pressing the L & R buttons (I think L1 to go left and R1 to go right). So, you may aim the ball at the keeper (let's say he's on the right), but when the shooting gauge is rising, if you press L1, the ball will go to the left instead. I hope you know what I'm saying.

Anyway, I don't know if it's possible to do it when ground-passing from a FK, but try it in practice.

I am playing around in practice mode and can't it to work. Sitting on an Xbox and not same controls.

But no matter what i press during the shooting gauge, it still shots...

I've got the Xbox too, but I still call it PS L1 and L2, etc.

Are you pressing A (short pass button) when taking these "safe free kicks"?

have u tried using the right analog stick to do a manual pass, will take some time to get used t the manual pass strength / direction.
personally i wouldnt recomend, i just hoof it to my forward holding up so it goes fast about head high and flat so the defender can rarely get there first
