Scoring free kicks is difficult!!!

I can't possibly score a free kick, I tried with Juninho in the training mode but I simply can't. In PES2008 I used to do a 2 players FK, pass the ball and kick. However, this isn't possible any more! You can barely control it.
And scoring them with a curve past the wall is extremely difficult.

Can anyone give me some tips? I really want to be able to score them...

it was too easy in PES08 to score freekicks, i like the fact that now its harder, you have to get good at the game.

I scored two in the same game with Gerrard today. Try practicing free kicks with him.

I was just about to say they do. I have conceded 7 'edge of the box' free kicks and they all went in at about 5mph in perfect catching distance to the kepper but i guess he was to busy gardening.

5mph free kicks lol, its basically the same as giving away a penalty and just a cheap method of scoring for the AI. its excruciating watching as the ball drifts in in slow motion

^^^ On the + side you can score them pretty easy. If you get the bar up to that fient little line as it goes up they will 9/10 go in.

i have not scored many in recent years for some reason, i think i get too excited when i get one and crumble under pressure

In 2008 you would suffer a lot of freekicks goals, but you would score a lot from corners...

So far in 2009, no goals from corners (only from PC) and no goals conceded from freekicks...

i do like the challenge of scoring free kicks in pes especially with someone like senna who doesn't have great stats for set pieces, this should be changed this year

I think you need to get good to score freekicks not judging with luck like in pes 08. Pes 5 was the same. You need to master it and once you do, the FK's become easy.

Yeah, noticed that too. I used to score from every corner using an driven, outside of the boot outswinger. Near post, just too damn easy. The only one from a corner so far was a bumbled & deflected Goater style shin-in.

You need to master it and once you do, the FK's become easy.

More so than the last 3-4 versions, practice will be more important on this edition. Good news for all concerned.

I find the easiest way to score free kicks is to press L1 and R1 so you have 2 players over the ball, then hold L1 while shooting so the 2nd player takes the shot, get it on target and the keeper is always beat! Let me know if it works for you! (also I tend to hold triangle after letting fly....MORE POWER!)

I agree, I hit the bar the first free kick I had in a good position, got another one later in the game from a similar position and scored it, its more like the pes 5 in terms of how much power you put on imo.

you'll like this:

Try and fill up the bar hitting LONG PASS button (O on PS3), and hold "down". You'll score 90% of FC's
