Scoring

Hi everbody,

I've problems to score in 1:1-Situations with the keeper as well as in other situations. Most of my shoots against human or cpu are blocked by the keeper. Sometimes I have about 15 shoots on the goal and only one goal, sometimes no goal. So I need ur help folks.

If I run towards the box I press the shoot-button and a direction (left or right) on the pad. Sometimes I only tip the shoot-button, sometimes I've tried to load the bar at half. But most of the time I can't get a goal :-(

I've heard much of the R2-Button. Does anyone use this button to score?

What about distance shoots. If I take for example Lampard or an other player with distance shoot abilities, how u can score from long ranges? Do u press only the shoot-button or something else (directon or R2 or whatever)?

What i want is to bring up my shooting on goal/goal rate. I dont want to die with a rate like 15/1 ;)

Thanx for ur help

MarMax,

I know exactly where you are coming from!

Here are some tips which have helped me, but my stats are probably only 1/6 (but thats still better than 1/14).

In general - ideally you only want to shoot when the ball is slightly away from you. (ie. when running on to it) and with the players "better foot"

1. Press R1 & R2: This pushes the ball about two steps infront of you - then shoot.
2. Press R1 & Direction: This pushes the ball about three steps in the direction you choose, (remember the players strong foot though) and then you can run on and shoot. (In my opinion this is by far the easiest way to score 7/10). You can even nail home full-power shots on (if timed correctly) with this one.
3. Chip the goalie: L1 & shoot
4. shoot from just off-centre of the D (just at the top of goalies area))

Personally, I find it close to impossible to direct shots (especially when playing from side view, my brain just can't handle the orientation change) - therefore a good tip is to always aim bottom left/right with a lightning speed tap on shoot.

I hope this helps

Thx Tianz for ur comment,

if u follow ur own hints, can u score more than 1/6 now?

1: R1+R2: do u press this buttons if u have enough room? I think the opponent will get the ball if i press this buttons but i have to test it
2: R1+Direction: I press this often, but often to late. The keeper will get the ball, before I reach it. Maybe I have to start earlier to run, but there are also defence players of hte opponent. Any hint on this?
3: I find the Chip realy difficult. The keeper gets 9/10. Any hints?
4: I dont understand this point exactly. Do u mean, that I have to run from the side towards the box not from the front?

I think, as I read ur comment, my main problem is timing. If I can believe what u are writing, than I have to press the shoot button before my player reaches the ball, is that true?
If that is true, I cant see the right or left foot, its to fast for me. Is there any rule which says something like "if the running animation starts, just tab the shoot button and the ball will fly with power to the box"? I cant believe, that I have to watch the small boots of my players, because that is realy to small to watch to, and the whole game play will suffer from it. Maybe u have some videos of good goals where gamers like me can see the timing of a shoot?

Maybe one master gamer from this forum can show some videos with advices about timing?

Anyway, I will try ur suggestions this night and write a report of my test in this thread.

Another point, how do u train shoots on the box. Do u play in the free training, or better at 1 star or better 4 stars , or better 6 stars, or better internet human, or what? Which team is the best to train shoots on the box, something like Brasil or better something like Senegal?

You don't need to watch the boots of a player. If you know a player is right footed and the ball is to his right or in front of him, he will strike it right footed. If the ball is to the left of him, he will strike it left footed UNLESS he has low weak foot stats, then he might try to use the outside of his right etc.

A shot will most commonly find the net if you aim for the far post, but there are lots of variations on this rule.

MarMax,

1. Yes, you need space.
2. I suffer alot from this too. This generally works best when receiving the ball just outside the "penalty area" or D as I call it (the D is found just at the top of the penalty area and is the only part of the pitch that looks like a D) . Direct the ball diagonally towards the best foot (open area necesarry) and the defenders will not be able to catch up. Then pound the ball home with shot (yes you can press shoot before he reaches the ball - but try and keep an eye on the power, optimal power = 50%. If the shot is perfectly timed you can have 100% power - but then again my shots are never perfectly timed. so go for 50% power.)
3. Nope - I tend not to chip.
4. If you are just off-centre in the D and shoot - goal success will be close to 9/10. You can run straight forward or diagonally into this position.

Don't worry about seeing the players feet - if you push the ball forward and have space the player will automatically shoot with his better foot. If however you are on the ball try and push the ball in the direction of the players better foot (ie. right for a right footer). You will notice that when players do not really have space and shoot with their wrong foot - the shot will generally fly straight up into the stands with little power.

Some guy has made a video called pes5 most wanted - I found it through this forum - so you should be able to do it too (it plays sound extracts from NFS MW) . Put it this way I would never want to play against him!

I generally play against the computer/friends as I get really bored in the training mode. If you go to free training, then press the menu button - there is a shoot section where you will play a one-two and then run on to shoot. (This is really handy if you want to practice one on ones with the keeper as there will only be 2 of your guys against the goalie on the pitch).

Good luck

Hi Tianz and the rest,

I've tested some stuff against one human opponent.

1: R1+R2 is nice but u wan't get the space for that in a real life game
2: R1+Direction use it carefully but its nice. Better is to use the R1 button realy rare and suddenly push it together with a direction to suprise ur opponent. In front of the goal u have to be in front of the D box
3: chip is not usable for me the keeper gets all of my tries
4: this is realy a timing issue. if u are in the D-box u have to be quick against an human player. Dribblings will help a lot.

Another point. If u press the shoot button at 50% this means not, that u give the power to 50%. The bar represents the high of a kick. So if u take for example Adriano from Brazil u can just tap the shoot button (aka a low ball) and the ball will maybe flight with high speed into the net. IMHO The speed depends on the position of the player and if the player can do the shoot without tackle of an opponent.

Whats your opinion?

Thanx for the video tipps. I can't beleive what I saw there. There are many volleys which I can't do. Can u do the volley from Nistelroy. U have to press the right analog stick down and up to lift the ball. Than u have to somehow volley the ball from the kick off point into the net. Awersome!

a good tip in 1 on 1 situations is to simply wait for the gk to come at you then feint with circle then x or square and x.or chip him I find that the l1 and shoot is hard to pin point I go for shoot then r1 as you can use full power on you'r lob and the ball stays quite low.

shoot and then while the power bar is still shown press R2. or just hold down R2 and shoot while your player is jogging - works for me :)

I don't bother with :R2:. After you get ur timing right its all the same. Like Tianz said u want the ball at the right distance. Just try not to get under the ball (almost touching ur feet).

Now that u got ur accuracy and power under control, time to beat the keeper. Remember, the closer he comes to u the easier it is to save. U don't want to give him any angles either so the more center u are the easier. Most of the time the keeper will charge which will force me to shoot just outside the box. Just a lil tap (1/4 bar) and pick a corner will slide it past the keeper most of the times. If no defenders are around then I'll dribble past the keeper but that doesn't happen too often on 6*. So don't be afraid to shoot outside the box cuz it seems far but as long as u got good accuracy even with less power u can beat the keeper.

Forgot to mention, slow down b4 u shoot if u want accuracy. I let go of :R1: and :R2:, dribble about 2 touches, then slide it past the keeper.

I have to ask u all. If u shoot on the goal, which button do u use to pick the right corner? There are at least 2 posibilities to pick a corner.

If u moving from left to the right and want to pick the right corner of the box, than u can press the right direction button, or u can press the down direction button. If u want the left corner u can press the left direction or the up direction button. right? what do u use with more success? are there more posiblities to pick a corner (like diagonal left/up right/up left/down right/down)?

Let me know which method do u use or which method is better than the other one.

Bye

Manual pass

A great way of scoring is to slow down when nearing the gk, and when really close to him, just side step and walk around the keeper and score. But alternatively, you can score using a manual pass. Manually pass straight at the gk, often the gk will not control the ball, and you can score from the rebound (it does require some practice). However, normally I just shoot softly past the gk, pressing [down] +
+ shoot. But still, the most beautiful goals are scored from a distance, and require great timing (practice) and some luck. And use R2 to perform a controlled shot.

That is correct MarMax. U can also just press up or down, depending on the situation. If no defenders are in front of me then I'll hold forward+corner. This way he's facing goal for more accuracy. But if I have defenders in my way, I'll just keep holding down or up without forward. Don't be afraid to shoot this way from distance either, I've scored a lot of crackers like that.

wait for the keeper to cum out den run one direction wivout speed burst, and sharply change to the other way, the keeper slides misses the ball and you have an open goal! works for me

If you are one on one with the goalie, there is no point power shooting it on the run. When you are close to the goalie, shot feint it by press Square button and quickly press X to cancel and it'll fake the goalie out and have an open net to shoot.
