I have experimented with the SS in WE9 and PES5 and so far I have had better success with CF's.

Playing a modifed 4-4-2 in my master league I bought Rooney as an ideal partner for my front man. I dropped him back slightly and put his role as SS but I seemed to have less space and got closed down more quickly. I played a whole season tweaking the roles and formation but the best i found was with two CF's.

What have you found about the new roles in the game?

I've only played the demo, but the SS works well for me, especially for Arsenal, where I play Bergkamp as SS and Henry as CF. Maybe, if you give your team a slightly longer run in that formation (with SS), you'll get used to it. Constant tweaking makes it difficult to get a concistent performance from your team. Anyways, whenever I played two strikers in PES4, I always positioned one a bit deeper, so I got used to it immediately.

Its best to work with three strikers mate.. depends on your team really. rooney doesnt really match being a SS.. I you ask me, 4-3-3 is best, and you get much support from your midielders

I see 4-3-3 as an easy option when it comes to PES games. Although it's not a bad thing, I always seem to easily batter teams with 4-3-3. It's too easy with that formation. I think it's coz of the wide strikers (WG).

Rooney's best position is SS. instead of dropping him back I'm playing him level with just the different role selected, it seems to be working better.

I used to play with 3 strikers in PES4 but I think its better with just two. Cheers for your comment

i cant comment as ive only got the demo and aint fiddled about with the formations.

But on PES4 i usually played 3-4-3 A and it was easy to get a few goals that way using the through balls down the centre or as someone said before to the wide strikers as they always had loads of space

i think that the best formation is 3-5-2
and that way, couse it's too easy to defend
you can dominate the midfield and have two fast wingers
and one qualaty striker like rooney along side a supa fast forward who can dribble like henry or eto

I think it matters to the style you like to play. If you are the kind where you dribble alot, 4-3-3 would suit you, but if people like me, who play continental style, 3-5-2 or 4-3-1-2 would be nice

Don't you know that you can play up to 3 different formations in 1 game of W11?

I play with 5 forwards when attacking.

2CFs with:
2WF's & 1ST or 1WF & 2ST's
