The Boss
I can't see it being a full price game. Probably 19.99 on PS2 and 14.99 on PC. It should be a success. The gameplay of the old games was great, and nothing has ever come close to the freedom it gave you regarding competitions and such... Of course it will of been updated since then, but so long as it was a similar gameplay style, with the same amount of teams and options, it can't really fail.

so its pretty much just gonna be a novelty game for old times sake. might buy it on that basis, because swos was beautiful

looks like its permanently in big head mode which i don't really get though, but i spose its different

I tried to create an updated version of SWOS two years ago using an editor I found. However, they complicated the stats in such a way that although I could get the computer to realistically simulate a season and the general placings of teams within a league, playing with those teams didn't feel right - and my mate who is a Liverpool fan said Owen was slow even though I'd given him the highest attribute for speed (it tended to dumb down the speed of the quickest player a little if a team had lots of slow players)

I miss SWOS :(

SWOS was probably the best footy game of all time, considering the context. Obviously now id take pro evo, but at the time SWOS had the best gameplay, and an endless amount of teams and competitions. class. actually, id probably take SWOS over pro evo 5!

I like the alternate versions to it, like the one where soldiers instead of players kicked a grenade round and eventually blowing up killing teamates. It was hilarious!

I used to love this on the Mega Drive, however I hardly think it's worth remaking.

SENSIBLE SOCCER KICKS OFF AGAIN

It's the return of the footy classic - should PES and FIFA be worried?

"14:39 Ah the golden years of football! Being long-standing and indeed veritably ancient footy watchers, we can remember the halcyon days when your major gaming decision wasn't PES versus FIFA, but rather Kick Off versus Sensible Soccer.
Yup, say the words Sensible Soccer to gamers of a certain age and you can stand back and watch the glassy look overtake their eyes as they reminisce of floppy drives, virtual jumpers for virtual goal posts and a heap of broken joysticks sacrificed on the Sensi Soccer altar.

Well after a brief foray onto mobile phones, Codemasters has just announced Sensible Soccer is to make a welcome return next year to celebrate its 15th anniversary with new editions flagged for PC, PS2 and Xbox.

"Following the success of Sensible Soccer's recent mobile edition and the fantastic retro Plug 'n' Play TV version of the game, it's great to bring a truly new version out for the first time in over eight years on all of the major formats," said original series creator Jon Hare.
"We are doing everything in our power to modernise and recreate the sheer playability, fun and footballing depth of the original and remind the playing public just what they have been missing out in the current market of slow, drab sims."

As you'll see from these first shots, Sensible Soccer will boast a slightly re-jigged new visual style featuring cel-shaded players, but it'll also retain the top down view which made the series such a playable classic. Four player multiplayer, 50 footy competitions, 100 unlocks and upgrades, plus a custom career mode should make this an absolute belter.

Looks like Pro Evo and FIFA will have to look to their laurels in Q2 next year, as by then we predict this boy will have done good."

Play.com have this listed as an April 7 release.

Their comments:

Renowned as the greatest multiplayer kick-about ever, Sensible Soccer will return with a modern take on its trademark zoomed out camera and truly intuitive control system, which delivers total 360-degree control over your players' kicks and movement. Visually, the game will have a distinctive new graphical style, which includes cel-shaded players with the classic enlarged heads, designed to appeal both to fans of the series and appeal to a new generation of gamers.

The trademark top-down view allows you to see the build up play better than you can in any current football game. This gives the player a huge degree of tactical awareness and control that has never been bettered.

Sensible Soccer will come loaded with masses of club and national teams and players from all over the world, multiplayer games for up to four players, and 50 international preset competitions.

In addition to the pre-set tournaments, Sensible Soccer will feature a DIY Competition mode, which enables you to play any number of teams in cups, leagues and tournaments with your own competition rules. You'll also be able to create your own Dream Team in the game's Custom Career Mode and play them in any of the competitions. As you clock up the wins for your squad, you'll be rewarded with over 100 unlocks and upgrades, both useful and comedic, to customise your players with including Five Star Skill Bonuses for players and Dinner Jacket football kits!

Hope they don't forget the online mode...

They should do a remake of goal on the NES

Hell yes... that was the first football game I ever played.

I'd want Sensible Soccer just to play whenever I want to stray from the 'stressful sims' of pes and fifa. Looks fun and nothing else.

Sensi Soccer was a good game but I dont think it will cut it on the modern console - the graffics have improved obviously with extra big heads. I think this kind of fast flowing - unbelievable after touch would be a hugh hit if it has net play or played against loads of mates, not sure it will have the depth of Master League. Hope I am proved wrong and HITMANUK is right with the £19.99 price tag.

Strange that Play are offering pre-orders on the PC version at £17.99 (RRP £29.99) and PS2 at £29.99 (RRP £39.99) as CodeMasters had said it would work as a budget game as Hitman said in the first post of this thread.

I would, but by the time it comes out someone should have reviewed it so I'll look closely at what is said.

If its just good for nostalgia and multiplayer action, it'll struggle to get a high score so that will be an indication of it being potentially poor.
