I like the idea to play with South American teams. I mean, they have been crap in the last PES versions, but I hope that is fixed now.

I had the opportunity to follow this year's Libertadores Cup and I was surprised by the good level of some teams. I am looking forward to playing with them.

Both of them were the finalist chivas and inter so there should be decent teams. Just see penarol they did a good game against real madrid which had all their best players in the field. So clubs from america are no that far from the ones on europe, and for sure better than a lot of them

PES and FIFA demo out on the same date I see...

I'll be buying FIFA11, not sure about PES2011 though :/

Unless PES2011 REALLY suprises me and I find it good then i'll consider buying it... If nothing impresses me then forget PES this year, i'd rather save money up for PS Move.

I'm getting FIFA11 though - Playing online with your mates is class.

I really hope PES is changed this year :)

Its all good for us to say Fifa and Pes are going head to head, but this is a pes dedicated site, people need to know about pes and how its changed, meaning pes needs t advertise heavily, fifa is still the causual gamers choice, people need to have pes showed down their throats... a lot of kids buy fifa, they dont know about ps, they only see the shiney fifa with all their licenses and big promises, they couldnt appreciate pes and grow up like that, its up to konami to market the game well over here to grab peoples attention. I'v seen promotions for the game around football grounds over the last 2 years but theses have been brought out after the game which is pointless, i had a similar post about a year ago and im still yet to see konami advertise the game where i live. No tv ones yet and the game could be only a month away.

^^^^ I agree with what your saying about PES needs to advertise. I dont agree with what you say about FIFA. Im sure theres plenty of Kids that do play it but i aint a casual gamer when it comes to football games and i managed to paly FIFA for the last 12 months. I played PES for 1 week tops this year. Im sure many dedicated PES fans who have been members of this site for years are in the same boat and arent casual gamers.

I cottoned onto PES as a kid on the snes. It had absolutely no form of advertising then so im sure kids do know about it these days.

I can't say its a shame on Konami's part because frankly speaking they are a global company with hundreds if not thousands of employed professionals and over a dozen years of expirience.

Hence, there cannot be an excuse on the lack of marketing or advertising just as much as there can't be an excuse on the demise of quality in PES recently.

Take this site for example, I've been here for some time now and I remember in the PES5/6 days, we used to have tons of topics and users. At the moment, I've noticed a steady decline in activity as well as a dedicated FIFA board (who could have fathom that?).

This year is really critical for Konami, PES 10 showed a turn around but this year is when they can convince us if they really did make a change and by Wednesday this week, we'll know. But this year they should be all guns and cannons in all aspects.

Unless if there's some hidden agenda (and I'm a fan of conspiracy theories) that we don't know about? Maybe Seabass wants a job at EA? Maybe, he just wants to show what neat features can be added to FIFA? Oh I love this industry!

What does advertising have to do with it?

Let's face it, no matter how hard a marketing scheme pushes a gameit's only as good as the actual game. You only have to go into an exchange shop - last year PES 2010 was laden all over the shelves within a week of release. That speaks volumes I'm afraid.

You'd have to be blind to not notice FIFA's improvement over the past few years. I was a PES die-hard since the beginning, but not to the point where I won't try other games. This year, I just didn't want to play PES at all. I persevered with it but saw FIFA WC 2010 and I was impressed. I immediately enjoyed it more and bought a copy.

I don't agree that people don't know about PES. This was maybe the case before PES6 - certainly in the ISS days this was true. Not now. Any non-casual football gamer knows both pretty much inside out.

Again though, my impressions of both FIFA/PES are tweaks so far. I do have a hankering for PES over FIFA, but nothing this year makes me think it's going to eclipse FIFA's product - which is a shame.

I hope I'm wrong but I get the feeling Konami are going to be pulling the 'oh, that'll be fixed in the final code' trick again.

i agree unclefredo. Although i am looking forward to the demo as the vids look better than PES2010 (which was awful imo. the last few i havent even completed a whole ML season on, before them i was completing at least 10 seasons per save, sometimes upto 3 different saves/teams)

Even if the demo is good im afraid its only going to me i get both games and not just PES. I had FIFA10 and although i despise paying money for a WC i did and in truth i got my moneys worth with the play i got out of it.

Also PES use to be awesome with physical friends on the room. FIFA is now better. We had plenty of beers and 4 man co-op world cup attempts on the WC game this year and it was fun.

Well lets take what you said, if gamers know the two games inside out as it is then thats great, but imagine how much more impact pes could have if it was marketed properly, it would increase fanbase and sales. Not eveyon coes nlneto check out the trailers for the new pro/fifa so if they see ad's on the telly they will be more willing to buy the game....

Hmmm i didnt explain that great. i have a Creative Mp3 player, i bought one a few years ago and it was good so i stuck with it and bought another one when that one broke, but if someone is going to buy a new mp3 its going to be an apple ipod if they can afford it, they trust the ipod brand more even though there both great brands, this is probably down to apple doing alot of advertising and making peopl think there buying a superior brand, its how i view pes/fifa i trust pes myself because i buy it every year and arent swayed by fifa's advertising, i just think alot of people buy fifa because they think its the safe bet.
