Shooting in PES4 outside the 16

Shooting in PES4 outside the 16 meter

I've been struggling for very long with shooting from outside the 16, but now I think I understand it somehow.

Before you shoot hit R1 or R2 diagonal right/diagonal left to give more power to the ball.

Then use the touchpad to give a direction to the ball (upper left/right corner, etc). Do this before you hit the shoot button. But hit the shoot button in a split second after you hit the direction. Give enough power to the shot, and keep giving direction too.

If the time between direction/shoot button is too long the shot isn't accurate.

When you release the shoot button immidiately release the directional button, else you give too much curve and the ball sails wide.

Does anyone have (additional) comments on this?

I really couldn't describe how I get good shoots in PES4, i've scored some crackers from distance but I don't think about it when I do it, anyone else feel this way?

The chances with which you get most power, are when the ball is loose, and you can take a massive run up and absoloutely belt it, I've scored afew long-rangers like this. Here's an example - credit goes to Mutu for scoring it. :)

Really?? How long does it take to do it????????

The more liable way to score is usually the easiest one. I don't think you have enough time to perform that sequence of buttons and turns in order to score a long-distance goal... The key is a good feeling with the :square: and a bit of practice :( (keep reading for a way to shot powerful goals )

I agree with the previos post... Great shots when a player receives the ball near the area and hits it (1/3 power bar is enough) The goalie stands by while the ball blasts the net. Really Spectacular(it works fine for middle-far distances and without regard of the strength or direction of the ball when the player contacts with it). ;)

From distance I always hit it on the bounce. With a good player (shot accuracy and power are key, but if your power is high you do get some screamers from unlikely players, Thomas Gravesen has hit some Howitzer's for me!) put the shot guauge around 3/4's.

Then I try and put a bit of bend like free kicks, and hope they spank it. There's definitely something in the bounce of the ball though, there's a tutorial on it within the tranining menu too.

i press the directional buttons after i press [], and i don't use R1 and R2. the shots come out with tonnes of curls sometimes. it depends on the player you're using too

It is all completely to do with the positioning of the ball in relation to the striker's foot. If you press square to early you will get a different shot to if you pressed it when the ball was dead in front of you, or to when it was slightly passed the players foot.

Scenario: Standing on the edge of penalty area directly in front of the goal, with a pass being put infront of the player to be hit, the pass is coming from the right sde of the player.

If you press :square: a bit earlier then the ball will be hit the outside of the players boot making it curl back out towards the right. If you hit it when the ball is dead infront of you, you will get a virtually straight shot these shots usually have the most power. If you hit the ball slightly late you will hit it with the instep of the player's boot causing the ball to curve toward the left.

You direct the shot by pressing the direction you desire it to be hit in immediately after hitting the square button.

The main thing though is the timing, getting the balance between curve and power is crucial, too much curve and you'll see your shot fly spectacularly wide, too much power and you'll see them be driven straight at the keeper. As Trevor Brooking says, 'It's all about timing...'

i like to shoot wen some one has laid up the ball to the shooter so they hit the ball first time. the shot is always powerful and obviously the better the player, the better the shot but some defenders that cant shoot to save their life some times hit a sweet one now and then.

I concur that this does help as prior to now all of my shots used to fly over or wide of the target as I was holding the direction after I had taken the shot. Practicing this i have managed to hit the crossbar a few times and some near misses. Not scored from outside the box yet, but I'm working on it.

I'd agree with that, just gotta get a good feel for it as far as timing and having the ball properly aligned in your feet.

to lay up the ball for screamers, pass the ball backwards or at least at a right angle slightly ahead of a player coming with pace, easiest done with triangle and see the ball scream either by the goal or in the net. used to be one of peles trademarks, fast dribbling at high pace, then just tap the ball backwards or sideways to a player coming with full speed to blow it in the back of the net.

To shot or not...

I think it's much easier to shoot outside 16 m in PES4(PC), than in PS2 version.

Try to press :square: twice, and see what happens, I've scored few goals using this...

i think its the same way i score my wonderfull 45 yarders i just see the ball rolling towards me and just hit square twice once gentally and the second time hold if for like a second.

Yeah it is always more likely to go in if you hit it first time like a player laying it off for you
