Should I buy PES 2009? (For Online Play)

I purchased Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for PC last year purely to play it online, what a big mistake. The game was unplayable, every game I played lagged so bad, and I've tried it on 3 different computers in 3 different houses.

I have played Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 on PC for several days now and it's great, however I cannot play this version online as I didn't purchase it. I want to know is 09 as laggy online as 08? I am very happy to give Konami £15-£20 for the game, if online play is playable.

Online is still really bad gohan, if your purchasing it mainly for online I would suggest FIFA09. Offline its still a great game though!

that was the main reason i bought it this year, but since i cant install the stupid updates i cant play online.but to answer your question i didnt like online mode,as hulkamaphone said go with fifa 09.

So if FIFA works ok then i suppose its not because of your internet connection?

Why is it so bad and will/when will they improve it. My ps3 should come tomorrow so i was going to try the online play.

How good is FIFA compared with Pro Evo 09? I don't want to go with FIFA just for online play. I remember playing FIFA 05 or 06 against Pro Evo 5 I think it was, and FIFA looked really bad against Pro Evo. I consider Pro Evo to have superior gameplay.

Has Pro Evo always had bad online play? I heard that Pro Evo 6's online play was acceptable, is this true? (not that I want to buy Pro Evo 6 again)

For Online - Probably not, although it is still possible to have some great games online

For Offline - Definetly

There is more to the game than online and if you are going to play offline then PES is definetly the game to play. Don't get me wrong, I've tried FIFA & it is a great improvement, but the game just doesn't have that extra excitement. It gets repetitive too soon and you get bored of it.

But if you're spending most of your time online then by all means go and get FIFA.

Most of my games are lag free, and some have a little lag, but don't spoil the gameplay. Maybe i am just lucky i suppose.
