Should Konami Name And Shame Cheaters?

Often in football, people are very reluctant to label players as "cheats". I can understand why - the media especially - hold back from doing this, but I feel if cheats were named and shame, then players would think about their actions on the pitch.

The same can be said about the cheaters we have on PES. Konami have stated that they will take action against the players who gained from the pause/own goal cheat. But since then, it seems to have gone a little quiet.

Anyway, presuming Konami have punished the cheaters in one way or another, I was thinking whether it would be a good idea to name and shame these dishonest players.

Like I stated before, it would set a good precedent which would seriously reduce the amount of cheaters as players would think twice about whether it's actually worth it.

The only setback that could occur is cheaters would think seeing their name in the spotlight would be a good/funny thing. And going on from that, if the punishments are strict enough then they could just come back - using a different Gamertag or PSN ID for example - and begin to cause havoc all over again.

I feel this is an interesting idea that I thought I'd share with you, so be sure to tell me what you think.

Good idea? Bad idea? Let us know, guys!

It is happening again
I think we should be allowed to report cheaters, which Konami should then investigate, with potential bans. Obivously if more than a few people report one person, it's obvious they're cheating. If they could impliment a way so they can watch that person's matches, that would help.

Name, shame and ban for eternity, not just PSN id but console itself if it's possible.

YES!

Microsoft are hard on banning people. Konami should send lists to M$ and they'd get the job done in a flash. Gamertag and console if need be too!

To be fair that's pretty ridiculous to be banning and screwing up consoles just because someone resets, pauses or scores own goals on pes

I'll come across cheats 1 out of every 10 games and I just laugh at the fact they have to resort to such desperate tactics.

If you get that upset over it to the point where you strongly believe there should be name and shame media campaigns and new policies set out against these cheaters, then you need some time out away from the game.

I had some gimp score three own goals and at the time I found it amusing - until the game abandoned for improper conduct. I wanted to brain the little fucker. I was in a competition and needed the points and money.

Whats the point in playing if you're going to quit? They may as well piss off and play top trumps or subbuteo instead.

I know how you felt, SP.

Yeah, I don't see playing a game that's meant to be fun... when you're just going to exploit the system, and cheat.

We aren't so different.

Said the copper to the robber before he beat him mercilessly with his truncheon - no euphemism intended.

... I'm kinda bored tonight.

Still, its always fun to message someone on PSN after they've quit and say "oooh you cheating little so and so, wait til I tell your mum" ... I usually get "Fuck off C**t" - they don't usually star out the middle letters though.

Some people just can't stand to lose at a video game. How will they ever impress their school buddies if they get spanked?

I'd imagine that if they are at school they are most likely playing FIFA. Only the cool kids play PES (Yeah take that FIFA players!)

You guys are right. Konami need to name and shame these cheaters and stop this madness. Konami should get the offenders photos taken and pinned on every street lamp posts where they live ousting them as cheats on pes. They then need to be fined 50% of their wages for every game they disconnect from and then give compensation towards the opponents who they cheated against and their families for all the distress caused

If they repeat the offence of cheating online after being named and shamed and fined or if they're not working to be able to pay from their wages, then they'll have to do community service along with having all their belongings repossessed and taken up for auction.

That'll teach them to pull the plug or score 3 own goals.

Amen brother! Drop them down into that mine in Chile! (Its safe to make jokes about that now right isn't it?)

I think it's been long enough to be funny now...

Thank god for that then - and speaking of religious figures, those miners are more hardcore than Jesus, he spent 40 days out in the desert and they did 69 days down a mine. Still, bet they won't be telling that story in church. Tsk, christians.

Where were we with the PES discussion again?

Probably not worthwhile IMO.

I just think Konami are responsible for making it not possible (or less possible) to cheat for PES 2012. For starters they need you to be able to see the name of players who disconnect. That should be a simple fix. Second, they need to change the MLO mode a bit so that it rewards your win-loss record more. One thing, for example, and I know some people won't like this... But what if they made it so that trying to buy Messi not only meant you have the dough, but that you're in the right division and have a good win-loss record? Sort of like ML offline, star players not wanting to play for lower league or unsuccessful sides?

I'm an advocate of not banning cheaters . It's ineffective . At worst they ge another account and copy .

Be it for soccer , fps , or whatever ... i think the best solution wouldnt be permanent and huges decreases of stats (in this instance for each players of the team he chooses) and visuals effects and color that permanently tag their as cheaters .

BAsically a virtual Tar+feathers punishement

That's a good idea. That's why Microsoft do when people glitch to add to their gamerscore. They're permanently labelled as a cheat.
