Should Players Get A Choice When Resetting MLO?

Here at OPE, we've been reporting on the master league cheaters quite a bit recently*

And even more recently, we have our latest post from yesterday regarding the fact that Konami haven't ruled out resetting everyone in MLO.

Like most of you, I like to spend some of my day surfing the various PES forums on the net. I've been increasingly interested in the whole MLO/cheaters debate, and whether Konami should reset Master League Online.

I've come to the obvious conclusion that if this did happen, players would be annoyed - to say the least. To say the uproar in the community would be significant is an understatement!

But then as I was reading through, a thought occurred to me...

Could Konami give players the choice to be reset, or not?

In this scenario, there would be two MLO systems - the current one that would remain untouched. And then a new one, where teams would be reset forcing players to start again with the ML defaults.

I feel this would be fair, as it would give all players the choice and not force them to do anything. (I would suggest allowing players to have two MLO teams, but that's another issue).

Note that the cheaters would have to be punished and all the cheating methods would have to be fixed first for this to work, obviously.

I strongly believe that this system would be beneficial for everyone. Players who have honestly built up their team, could continue to strengthen their team, whilst playing against the other well-built teams. Unfortunately, the cheaters who have avoided the Konami radar would still be around - but most of the cheaters aren't that good at the game anyway!

We then have the new MLO system. It would be exactly the same as the other one but with one (well, two...) major benefits; there would be no cheaters that have exploited the game - and also no cheating methods, as they have been patched over - like how the own goal cheat was fixed.

Whether this is actually possible, I don't know. Despite that, I feel it's quite an interesting topic that could produce a lot of discussion.

I'm not a particularly cocky guy, but I would certainly considering sharing this idea with Jon Murphy and the rest of the Konami team.

... But I'll wait and hear what you guys think first, before I start thinking about that!

A good idea, or just crazy talk? :erm:

If they reset this game mode, I would trade my copy in and go back to Fifa 11 asap.
End of the day just fix bugs and exploits... we are all going to end up with amazing teams sooner or later. unfortunatly people have exploited to get "dream teams" quicker and it defeated the object of this mode, but they are still shit player behind the team. Im in division 2 and every other team is like this, but I still beat them 8 times out of 10.

i think what they should do is punish you more money wise if you dont win games with a crazy squad so that you actually need to be decent to keep good players.

And therein lies the true problem with the current MLO setup. Its just plain stupid, they really never thought it through, give it a few months and everyone will have the same boring players and formations cause you cannot fail to make money, that imo needs to change. There should be a proper wage - income - expense structure that prevents everyone eventually leveling out at some Barcelona like level.

Hows about:

add some sort of prestige mode. If you want to go into this exclusive division you have to reset your team and start from scratch, otherwise division 1 is your limit.
In this new prestige mode you'd earn money much quicker, perhaps add some extra/classic players to make it a bit more special.

Just started reading this thread and wondered how some people have a team of world beaters when they cost so much and also that some are still in division 4 or 5like myself?
It is taking me ages to earn even 1 - 2 milliions to spend on a player? Is there a cheat or bug or do you think they really won that many tournies or quick match games?

What division you're in has no bearing on how long you've played the game.

You could have played since the first day, 20000 games, and still be in Division 5.

Like football, you can be promoted but of course you can be relegated.

I see the complaints and I have to say I agree that people have exploited this game to create dream teams. The way Konami "balanced" it was if your team is really great, it costs more to play each game. The lower the division, the less money you earn, so therefore if you have a great team, but stagnate in the bottom divisions, eventually you will have to sell your expensive players. The problem is it's pretty easy to stay in the higher divisions once you have a team where the average rating is 90+.

The way I see it someone will find a way to cheat in any online game. I just play and try to win and never quit or cheat. My ball thing is fully inflated so when I see others with their ball full I know they are going to be legitimate players.

Isn't there an option to say you only want to play people who have at least a 90% full ball? If not, there is your solution.
