OK, I've been lurking here for a long time, and have learnt all I know about editing and patching from you folks - cheers. I've never posted to say "Why can I not play this patch of Winning Eleven 6 on my unmodded PS2" or "Please, where can I download WE8" or any of that stuff - I read and I found out for myself. But now I finally have a dumb question, and I need it answered, because no amount of searching has helped.......
Patches for rips of WE7I are specifically for the 'English Rip' or the 'Jap Rip'. Now obviously, if you patched say an Eng-Rip patch over a Jap rip, the commentary would not work properly. But if - like me - you play without commentary on, can you patch the Jap rip with the English patch, turn off commentary and it'll still work in every other way? Or is there something specific to the two different rips that stops it working at all?
