Anywho, it's been a while since much information has been released and now EA Sports and their crew of quite large round men have made the skate Demo available to download on Xbox Live Marketplace. I'm guessing it will be available to download on the PS3 too if it's multi-platform.

I've played the Demo twice now, and I have to say it's incredibly innovative and has changed how to play a skating game. They've definetely accomplished their goal of bringing realistic tricks and movement to the game. I quite enjoyed it, however it was frustrating at first for me, but it could have just been because it was early morning and I was falling asleep whilst playing.

So download the Demo, however it takes a while so you may want to do something in between, like go on holiday, go to a football game or slip into a coma.

I actually prefer Tony Hawk's cos of the humor and daftness of it. I saw a video of this and the guy flew off his board after skating into a lamppost, realistic? Yes. Fun? Meh.


Saying that, I've not actually played this yet, so I know nothing. :mellow:

my brother skates and he has really gone off the Tony Hawks series, he has been looking forward to this for years, it looks more realistic and has more skate culture about it, rather than the Jackass MTV culture of the TH series.

Be interesting to see what EA come out with here.

Possibly the "gayest" thing I've seen on this board in many months. However it's understandable if EA Sports killed your family.

Yeah, I used to really enjoy the Tony Hawk's series until it became quite a joke with it's recent games. Project 8 was a much improved version but it still was too ridiculous, that's the problem with the Tony Hawk's series nowadays, they're funny, but only for a day or so, after that it's merely repetitive. Plus far too easy to rack up big combo's, lost part of the enjoyment from the first couple released on the PS1. Still to this day, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 remains the best.


The Demo is available on the 360, from the Xbox Live Marketplace for free. Elsewhere, haven't a clue unfortunately.

Well quite frankly almost all EA games are poor thesedays due to their utter laziness, and since they've declared a clear loving towards the 360, I can't be arsed with their second rate ports on the PS3.

They are so far up their own arses they feel the need to edit their very own wikipedia to delete any negative thoughts about them. I think my hatred towards them is justifyable.

But you can't just put them on the shelf. You gotta judge the titles on their own merit.

Everyone knows EA are complacent and lazy, but to blow off a game just because they've been annoying is silly. This is the start of a whole new genre for EA, and they've obviously got work to do if they're to impact on the Tony Hawk's series. As for the difference between the 360 and PS3, well, most developers are creating with an emphasis on the 360 now, because it's more popular and currently earns more money. Anyone else would probably do the same.

Why would anyone search Wikipedia for EA anyway ?

It's just the fact that the biggest gaming company out there is so inconsiderate at times, and spend so much more effort into their marketing campaigns than the games themselves. I get overly frustrated for reasons I know not :wave:

On skate., is all that world from the map (in the first picture) playable (except the distant hills etc.)? I'm no skating fan, but I did enjoy button mashing tricks together on Tony Hawk's 3. I've not seen any videos of skate. or any real information, but would you say one large playable world is better than individual maps with different atmospheres? There were mixed opinions when it happened with Need For Speed, and it's going to the be the same with the new Burnout..

I agree, they definetely put more effort into marketing but it works, they're in the business to make money it seems and they're accomplishing that.

The map does look very cool in that first picture, I've seen an overhead view of the available areas too so I'm trying to piece together what's playable. I'm guessing around half of the picture will be playable, the closest area, but there could easily be the majority of that map available.

I'd probably say one large map is the best idea available. However breaking them up in a way like the recent Tony Hawk series would be excellent. For example, you start off with only 1 area available, and once you've done so much the next area opens up for you to skate in. You're then allowed to just roam freely in the areas you've unlocked without any loading times. In Project 8, you began your career in "Suburbia" and then unlocked the "Skate Park", and to get to the skate park, you had to just skate down a side alley. It allows for different atmospheres in the Map, but ultimately it's one very large town/city where you can freely roam about.

Sounds like a quality game, I've always liked the Tony Hawk series, but they have gotten too far from real skating in my opinion.

Haribooooah, I think if the designers are good enough they should be able to integrate the feel or atmosphere of different maps into one city in my opinion. But I guess with it being a new "fad" that appears to be in teething stages, the balance isn't quite there yet.

That particular map looks cool, seems to have big city blocks, suburbs and different looking areas...

kids and grown ups love it so...
