My copy just in. Will see how it pans out, I'm a tad frightful of how my graphic card will put up with this...it's not bad, but it's not the Arnie among all graphics cards so I'm bracing myself for the option it'll look like Tetris: Valhalla Edition or something along those lines.

This comic sums up why (outside of the one I had to kill yesterday after turning hostile during the dragon showdown) I will never kill a Giant.

They are peaceful and will protect their mammoths even if it means their own demise.

I think when I get it I will just happily butcher villagers all day, the Giants will be left in peace to have sex with their mammoths creating Gammoths which would be perhaps to foul to contemplate

Yeah, don;t think you'll be doing what you said barn, as soon as you are seen doing a crime guards will be made aware, and you get arrested/pay fine/fight back. Choose the latter and you#re fucked, they are pretty immense. I imagine when you've levelled your guy up to a good amount you'll be able to kill the guards but when you're surrounded by 5 white run knights, you don't stand a chance.

Shame, what about travellers on the road side? Do you get a few of them? Can you murder with innocents with indifference outside the villages/towns etc Do murders only get noticed in the urban centres in the game?

Murders get noticed if witnessed, but any bounty will likely only apply in the region you commited the crime. You can kill with impunity if you are not seen (or so I am lead to believe).

You can also get rid of your bounty by killing all the witnesses, no idea how you'd track who saw the deed though.

Yes, a murdering rampage in one region will not mean everyone hates you in another, but it just means your screwed in that region, and it may impact your ability to do quests.

Original?

Have to say this is phenomenal. Got myself up to level 7, there is nothing better than letting loose an arrow, only to lose sight of it until it pounds into a bandit's skull on the other side of a mighty river dropping them in one shot.

I must say sabre cats are mightily vicious, they come out of bloody nowhere.

If Skyward Sword wasn't as awesome as it is, Skyrim would've been my GOTY.

Pretty good for a game I really had no incling to buy up until the saturday I got it (i had read about it and seen videos but prefer the fallout series to teh Elder Scroll games)

Haha, I did some showboating at the Whiterun Palace with my Whirlwind Thu'um and someone sent me a letter of how they were quite impressed while some others were not quite thinking the same. Pretty peculiar..

Just found another glitch. I obviously had an ice shard stuck in me when I saved the game last night. Loaded up just now and the ice shard is stuck. I've tried fast travelling, getting shot at by archers and zapped by mages. Hell, I've even tried dying, but to no avail.

While I like 1st person for caves and fighting, I prefer the 3rd person when just travelling about. Looks crap with the damn Ice shard through my neck

Fortunately I have a prior save, albeit meaning I go back a level, but hey, no ice-shard, so I can live with it.

After struggling to make the combat system of Skyrim to be any interesting compared to The Witcher 2, I decided to reroll character and made a female Breton. They have a rather small frame compared to the other races, and that suits a sneaker just fine. My first toon was a female Orc, also rather stealthy but I spent points all wrong. But the "berserk" shout was quite simply insane. A full frontal two handed warrior is also quite effective and entertaining in this game, but I would still use light armor, as sneak is too important and fun to give up.

I have a great tip for you guys on how to get a sneaky character right from the start, regardless of racial choice.

(Optional) When escaping capture, at the bear, just face a wall and press autorun "c" on PC, and wait while your sneak ability pass 20. You could wait until it hits whatever number you want, really, but I started out with 15 and decided that 5 "free" points was enough for me.

(The Iron Mine) When running down the mountains, just past the "class stones", there is a small trail that leads up to a mine on the right hand side. There is an alternative entrance to this mine closer to the city, but I would suggest using the "main entrance" for this task.

Now, after going to town with your escape buddy, dolly up your gear at the smiths house, do his bidding and get yourself some easy Smithing levels. Sharpen your blades, temper your armor (always light, heavy is just pointless in this game).

Head for the main entrance of the mine, and start sneaking. Try to kill everyone stealthy in that cave. First off, pick up the burning torches on the walls as you pass them, darkness is your friend. Watch out for chimes and traps, as they can alert nearby enemies. The first couple of Bandits you encounter, just stand in the shadows and wait until one of them leaves, then kill the other while he is sleeping.

Wait below the stairs in the water line for the other to come back, and backstab him while he is studying his companions corpse.

This is how far I will "guide" you as a stealther, but one last tip is to use the Bow to attract attention without being discovered. Shoot an arrow towards the spot you want the enemy to go to, and use the distraction to make a kill, or place yourself in good position for a stealth kill.

Each stealth kill will give you a point or more in Sneaking, at least at the start. After getting 5 points from the sleeping bear, choosing the Thief stone, and clearing the Iron Mine with all stealthy kills, I had 43 Sneak. Not too bad after 1 hour gaming, and 15 sneak to begin with. I also recommend Breton (25% magic resist+shout), Dark Elf (50% fire resist) or Orc (Berserk) because of their exceptional racial abilities. Orc is easily the best melee fighter in the game because of Berserk, even for assassins.

PS. Use double swings (right & left mouse button at the same time) if you're dual wielding in open combat, the DW power attacks are quite effective, and once you pick up the 25% less stamina use it's a fight winner.

I use heavy armour without any issues. If anything it has probably saved my bacon in a few scraps... :erm:

I'm not saying there's any issues, I am just saying light armor is better for a sneak, obviously. Anyway, I don't get that much damage to be honest, trying to move around a lot in open combat to avoid being gang banged, and it also serves as a sort of "evasion" it seems. I mostly get hit by glancing blows, hardly damaging at all.

Yes, definitely. It's awesome once you got some reduced stamina cost for using special moves. Pressing both mouse buttons at the same time, and holding them, unleash a wicked combo that kills quite frequently in one motion.

A major visual drawback is that offhand weapon is invisible when sheathed. I like details, and this one fails miserably in that department.

Not seen the specific duel, or even single wield weapon moves yet, but I love the 'finishers' with duel wield (the ones where you time the hit correctly), especially the beheading. The way if you're in 1st person that it takes you out 3rd person for the full gory details is a lovely touch too.

Another thing they have taken from Fallout. As I said, I cannot wait for a new fallout using this engine. It's not far removed from what has already been in place for Fallout, but it has enough to make a new one so much better.

Fallout 3 remains more in line with my tastes than Skyrim.
