I noticed The PS2 Demo version appears to be smoother with less jittering than the PS2 final version..... Commentary is the only difference between the two as the demo has none.... hope this helps..... DJDOC

I've figured that and had wished so badly that they never included the commentary... the first thing I did was turn it off. I am now in the process of removing all the commentary files but haven't noticed much difference so far. I will get back with my results.

So it seems that the only solution without removing files is to wait for Konami to release another patch that fixes this problem. I hope the commentary fix works, because although I don't like messing with game files, I'm sure you could just back them up and replace them when a new patch comes out, right? The game is still better than any other soccer game I've played, so like you said, if the framerate were consistent it would be perfect.

It's definitely an annoyance, but it doesn't ruin the gameplay.

Lately, it seems that I spend much more time trying to get PC games to work than actually playing them.

Have any of you tried setting your refresh rate to 60 Hz, and enabling Vsync? I was just reading on another forum that this solved the problem for someone. Apparently, it also works if you set the refresh rate to twice that, or 120 Hz. I'm gonna try playing in 1024 X 768 at 120 Hz when I get home, and I'll let you know if it makes a difference. I guess I'll have to use powerstrip to force the refresh rates. It would suck to have to play at 60 Hz, so hopefully your monitor supports 120 Hz.

This solution should work, because Konami has locked the game at 60 fps, which is what the PS2 version runs at. With the refresh rate set equal to the framerate, everything should be cool.

Great news...setting the refresh rate to 120 Hz got rid of the slowdown. I'm now running it at 1024 X 768, max everything, with 4X AA and 8X AF, and VSync on.

It's smooth as silk.

60 Hz should work, too, but it's a little hard on the eyes.

As soon as I installed the game, I also installed the official patch. I haven't applied any kind of kit patches. Initially, my refresh rate was set to 85 Hz, and I had the slowdown problems. I used Powerstrip to force my refresh rate to 120 Hz for 1024 X 768. I'm using a NEC 22" MultiSync FE2111SB Flat CRT monitor. Last night, I also tried forcing it to 60 Hz at 1024 X 768, and the game ran smoothly at this setting also. Keep in mind that I have Vsync set to "Always on" in my video card settings.

60 Hz isn't so bad, and it's worth it if the game runs smoothly.

Well, I belive that it you run the game at 60Hz with low/medium details at 640*480 or 800*600 and VSync set to Always on.. the game runs GREAT.... without applying the official 1.1 patch.
