Solution to saving penalties.

I think i have found a solution to save penalties when you are playing the computer.

Ive found this out on the 'professional' difficulty, not entirely sure if it would be on 'top player' but should be on the previous difficulties.

Basically,

when you are saving a penalty (or attempting to), the camera will switch to inside the goal, behind your keeper. From this angle you can see the oppositions face. Look and their face and try and see what way they are facing.

When I was saving them, there was a clear difference between looking left and looking right, at least this narrows down the choices in which we have to guess to save the penalty.

Use your judgement when looking at their faces, attempt to read if it is up or down. Sometimes though, they will shoot in the middle, this is not easy to guess.

I was playing France, being England, and in all of their faces, i saw which way they were thinking of shooting and saved in that position. My final step is to determine whether it is top corner or bottom corner. It was down to sudden death (if they miss and I score I win) and I had saved at least 4 of their penalties. They were not the best players mind, but it did help to save them.

I hope this helps for you. Remember this is against the AI only! Not your friends!

I tried this in my master league.

AND it worked! well it was only once, so it could of been a coincidence. The player was looking straight down the centre, so i kept my goalie there and he saved it!

Unfortunetly the keeper parried it straight to the penalty kick taker and he tapped it in. : (

I just tried it and it worked most of the time, but like you said sometimes they went down the middle.

Another good idea is to press pause just before they kick the ball, this way you can guess by there technique which way they are going to put it.

if you're trying to win a penalty shoot out, a great tip as well as this one is to always shoot down the middle. the computer goalie will never stay in the middle. he will always make a dive to the left or right.

Oh, how did i miss this bit of genius before?

You can only dive left or right. So if the face looks one way it cuts down the options..... to one.

Magic.
