I didn't own either, i was an Amiga boy. But, i have fonder memories of sonic.

Has to be Mario, Mario series has been more consistent over the years, whereas the Sonic games have gone down hill and are now a load of shite.

Agreed.

As an owner of most games for all classic systems and a fan of both Mario and Sonic, I have to go with Sonic.

I agree with the above-mentioned reasons, especially the music. Also, Sonic games always had way better graphics and Sonic has a sweet haircut.

I think Bowser is the harder enemy, so Mario gets my vote. And some say Mario is just a fat italian plumber, but how many fat italian plumbers do you know who have saved royalty and defeated a huge dinosaur who can breathe fire. Even I could beat a fat nerd with a stupid hairstyle (Dr. Robotnik).
