Star Wars Battlefront II

Even at this early stage it certainly looks to be the best Star Wars game ever.

Star Wars Battlefront II

Click where it says trailer. Perhaps the best news so far is that you are able to play as Jedis!! In the trailer you can already see Darth Maul and Obi Won Kenobi as playable, and here are screenshots of Darth Vader in action..

And an ingame pic of Darth Maul :

And finally an ingame pic of Kenobi fighting General Grievius:

• Revamped single-player experience includes smarter AI enemies and allies, plus a greater emphasis on story told through open-ended mission-based objectives.

• New space battles allow you to dogfight in X-wings, TIE fighters, Jedi starfighters and several other starcraft, or fight it out on foot aboard an enemy capital ship.

• Special opportunities throughout the game for players to wield a lightsaber and use their favorite Force powers as a Jedi.

• More than 16 new battlefronts on land and in space, including many from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith such as Utapau, Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant.

• All-new classic trilogy locations including the Death Star interior, classic space battles and the fight aboard the Tantive IV, Princess Leia’s blockade runner seen at the beginning of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

• Online multiplayer action for up to 24 players on PS2, up to 32 on Xbox or up to 64 on Windows (plus AI units).

To be released sometime in the autumn. I can't wait.

EDIT: More videos

Im really excited about this coming game. Battlefront was a classic. I love the Geonosis map. Nothing beats driving one of those Republic walkers. Have any of you played Knights of the Old Republic I and II? If you like this genre those games are a must.

By the way, that's not Windu fighting Grievous, it's Kenobi.

Ahh yes. Damn it's obvious now. I will correct my statement. Thanks Zyg. I still hope that Windu is there though.

I love KOTOR1&2, they rule.

I didn't bother with Battlefront but those pics of Vader fighting on the blockade runner (I think that's what it's called) make me want this.

The videos make the game look a bit tacky. Hopefully it'll get better by release time.
I think that God Of War has warped my sense of games. People have to work a lot harder to impress me like that did.

It could be worse, these games could be like EA's Lord of the Rings games. Can anyone tell me whether this is a properly skilled game or a button mashing frenzy?

Well, Battlefront didnt really require much skill. It was your basic first-person shhot 'em up. But if you are a starwars fan and liked episodes 1 and 2 then you might enjoy as i did a few of the maps. Like tha battle of Naboo or the battle of Geonosis. They even have the old campaigns with the battles of Endor and Hoth, which is great cause you get to drive those huge four legged AT-ATs. I really loved that one. Shooting the rebel scum while they are running about on their taun tauns. Some of the best lasers and sound effects in all the star war games ive played.

I liked making a sith lord more than a jedi kight in those because they become so powerful and its more entertaining when you go into battle. Throwing lightining left and right and strangling people. I loved those games but i got really pissed off when i found out that you could not make characters of species other than humans in the second part.
The one game they should think of making a sequel of is Jedi Academy. If you want to play as a force wielder that is a great game. You could push people against the wall in that one or lift them off the ground and throw them against walls or drop them over a precipice or pull their weapons off their hands. Now that was fun! Has there been any flight simulator since X-wing Vs. Tie fighter? That would be such a treat.

Which one are you talking about? The RTS or the third person action adventure types?

Third person action types, they were very poor reuiring very little skill to complete the game, they also went overboard on effects against the book and movies' less is more ethos.

X-wing alliance was after x-wing vs. tie fighter. A whole lot better too, very involving story I thought, and a lot more pilotable craft

I'm yet to use the Sith Lord class, my only dark side character was a Guardian/Maurader. I prefer playing light side, not sure why. Pretty much perfected making Guardian/Weapon Masters, complete with kill and lightning to compliment bad ass lightsaber skills.

I found part 2 less then part 1, yet to complete KOTOR 2 though.
Its always hard to be sequel to such a classic that KOTOR1 was.
Best SW game yet,no doubt. Stupid Carth kept dying in part 1, must have lacked equipping him with the proper weapons.
That double bladed lightsaber

Once I got off Dantooine with a full party of Jedi I didn't bother using any of the others. Lightsabers rule. Some of the ones you can make in 2 are so overpowered, makes running through that crappy last level less painful I guess.

They were lacking, its so true. But playing with Legolas and shooting insane amounts of arrows into their ranks at an incredible speed was worth it for me.
As for the movies. They were good but blasphemous imo. I mean, what the hell were they thinking omitting Elrond's children and the Dunadan from the north. And also one of my favorite characters the unsung heroes of minas tirith, Prince Imrahil and his knights!? Blasphemy i say!

I'd like to get my hands on that one but i doubt the graphics would be up to the level that i seek at the moment. What kinda 'new' craft could you pilot? I have in fact heard about it and someone told me you could fly corellian corvette types.

Same here. A jedi charge is always such a sight.

The story in part 2 is not so good but the gameplay, interface and the skills and classes that you can pick have been seriously improved. Its just an RPG after all so i guess they couldnt focus on the combat aspect as much as in Jedi Academy. In that game you could pull real fancy moves with the lightsabers. Imagine 20 guys playing that one in a network or over the internet. Those were the days.

I've got to admit the first one promised so much but ended up failing, but hopefully this one will make up for it and I can't wait for it to be released. Too bad the release date is quite far.
