strange screen distortion during online play

Just got my 2009 and started online play for 360. There seems to be some sort of screen distortion during the game play not seen on exhibition mode. Wondering if anyone has experienced it as well or is my copy of the game defective.

Not too happy with the online thus far / very choppy. I dare to say when the connection is decent, 2008 seems to play better?
