PES 2014 must be the easiest football game of the entire series. Winning on superstar mode is far too easy and makes the game feel very arcade like. Don't get me wrong the fox engine looks great but the overall experience is spoiled because of all the support settings. When you have passing support at max settings all the players seem to turn into excellent passers regardless of there in-game stats.
1. Passing support
The standard controller support settings is 3 bars from a possible 4. This makes it extremely easy to pass to your teammates by just aiming in the general direction of the player. If you turn off passing support you have to directly aim at your team mate and use the correct amount of power making it much more difficult to complete a pass.
My point to the makers of the PES is why does passing support have to affect all your players directly. Surely passing support should be down to the quality of the players ability to pass i.e Ozil = 4 bars, Xavi = 4 bars, Carrick = 3 bars, Essien = 2, Mertesacker = 1 bar.
This would make it much more noticeable to both experience gamers and also newcomers as to why passing is a skill and some players are alot better than others at it. PES has just made it lazy. When Per Mertesacker is top of your assists you know something is seriously gone wrong in the game.
Please just get rid of the passing support assist it's an old system and never really worked and one of the main reasons that PES will never feel real.
2. Shooting Support
There is three different shooting support settings basic, advance and manual. Again basic makes it very easy for any player to hit the target or score regardless of ability or stronger foot just once the player is correctly positioned and you point in the general direction of the goal and use the right amount of shooting power. You can score a 25 yard screamer with Patrice Evra on his right foot if you try hard enough.
Advance and manual require far more skill when it comes to shooting.
As with my first point shooting support should be determined by the players real-life shooting ability i.e Van Persie = Basic, Ronaldo = Basic, Lampard = Advanced, Richard Dunne = Manual.
PLEASE PES LOSE THE SUPPORT SETTINGS OR INTEGRATE THEM INTO THE PLAYERS. THIS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THE GAME FEEL MORE LIFE-LIKE.
I'm sorry for the essay but I would love to hear from some fellow PES players on my view. I really want PES to improve but feel disappointed with the game-play in PES 2014 despite it looking great.
