I find it very hard to tackle and break down attacks. When I press X i never seem get the ball of the opponent, and when I press the SQUARE button it leaves gaps in my defence. I there any tips for successfully tackling. My friend always uses the chop method and i never seem to be able to get the ball off him.

HELP & ADVICE NEEDED!!

hi sorry i`m not usually in this section but try this

use R2 and x when an attacker is running at you this slows your player down and times the tackle but be advised never do this when theres a lot of space either side of you as your opponent will simply go round you and leave you for dead

personally i defend from the half way line no matter what formation i use when i loose the ball , i bring everyone back to the half way line ,if possible i use my forewards to pressure the ball player if that happens i have my midfeilders in posistion to block any passes and my defenders are either marking their attackers or in a covering posistion

Try selecting a player and controlling him to fill the gap created by pressing square. I do this to close down the attacker until he nears my selected player with the pressure applied by the other player, then I snag the bee and pass it off. This allows you to have more control, while getting into position to tackle. Gotta be timed well, however. As mentioned above, use R2, there is no other way to defend. X works well in close situations. Defending is all about correct timing.

my 2cents would be rarely use the x button .360. square .ps3. focus getting ure players back and filling gaps and cut out the simple passes .keep tapping the change player button and compacting you team .basicly differnt people play different way so sometimes you need to be gung ho in your defending and most of the time be a bit more subtle and sit back mark you men and always be warey of the simple through ball what can be impossible to defend against if you not highlighted the right player and already tracking the runner

its agame of chess always try and predict you opponents next move whether it be a pass or dribbling you or i right timed foul

as i said theres no 1 correct way to defend just try and second guess your opponents every move

practise on top player manipulating your players more into defensive posesions with crappy players and your m8 wont have a chance when you have good defenders at you dispoall

good luck

What I lack in defensive abilities I make up for in my timing in tackles. I use the O tackle button quite a lot, but your timing needs to be right otherwise you will get a lot of yellow/red cards.

is there a way to defend against the players who just runs in the box and out runs the keeper and scores. i tired holding Y on xbox to call keeper but makes no difference he still falls to early or just runs and dont save the ball. HELP!!!!

This might help cause this is what i do. U should tap the L1 button and get control of a player in the box and use him to intercept or block the play leaving the previous player u were controlling to put pressure on the attacker, so basically u'll have like two players under ur control if u know what i mean. ALL ABOUT L1 SWAPPING PLAYERS AND INTERCEPTING.

I just use the directional pad(stick) and move it towards my opponent while keeping my finger on X(PS3). It sounds simple but I actually learnt this from Fifa and it seems to work on Pro Evo as well. I also double up on attackers, I press the square button(PS3) to pressure the player with the ball, and try to get into a good position with the player I am in control of to cut out the pass.

I've only had 30 or so games online and have already noticed I am conceding a lot less goals, I also seem to be conceding much less against my brother using this tactic.

Remember to keep pushing your directional pad(stick) towards your opponent as if you are trying to shoulder charge him off the ball while keeping your finger on X.
