Tactics discussion

Kind of surprised no long threads have been done on this...or have i missed it

I was wondering what people's preferneces are and why?

hope i am not being rude about asking peoples tactics...i am just a bit of a novice in this game as far as really getting to grips with tactics etc

in real life you coach your team to defend narrow and attack wider...does this work on the latest pro?

personally i am using a 442 ....attacking with more width..defend narrow.....making sure my players get supported when they have the ball and have two strikers running in behind the opposition......also using the interchanging thing on high...not sure if thats good

also have they not put in the player attacking arrows in this game? i can't seem to find it

In ML i am Unirea Urziceni and started off hopeless, couldnt score, tweaked the sliders and employed early crosses and long balls and now i am competant

Oh yeah, stayed 4-4-2

Will post them up soon

PS: Dunno where the arrows have gone and yes on the sliders, you can defend tight and set play style to wide

No arrows this year. I use 4-4-2 as well. Since i'm about to play against inter in CL in a couple of matches i considered playing 3-5-2 in that game having 3 cb's positioned very close to each other.. And two cmf's trying to close down stankovic (or who ever they have bought).

As for the special tactics i usually go for pressure, counter attack and opposite side attack depending on the opponent the score etc..

how about the sliders? what do you do there? or dont you touch those?

regarding going for pressure for the full 90 mins. surely that dangerous..players fatigue and due to the ease of first time passing an opponent could just triangle round you and perform one-two 's all over the place and get guys open and inbehind you.....especially if you pressure with the sliders you could have defenders EASILY getting pulled out of position...causing a collapse in your back four

just saying..probably wrong though

am starting to lose hope on this tactics thing. seems like no one real;;ly focuses on it. which might be good if i can get the hang of it somehow i might have a slight upper hand? nah

The arrows have gone and been replaced with the cards system - you can set whether your player is Defence Minded (back arrow) Balanced (no arrow) or Attack Minded (Forward arrow)....

Sliders make a hell of a difference and I find I have to tweak them depending on how the opposition play....I mainly tweak the slider which relates to how close your players support the man with the ball and the attacking style which relates to how narrow or wide you want to play....

I don't think you can keep the same slider levels for every game and be succesful as your opponents will be different every game.

Just need to practice with various settings - perhaps change one at a time and see what the outcome is and learn from that.

I play a flat 4-4-2 with my DMF set to 'anchorman' to break up counterattacks. I really like using the new card system, good addition.

Thank you canarian. Didn't know they called it sliders. I'm familiar with it and use them on some of my players.. One of my cmf's has attack minded etc.
