Any chance the forum could utilise this plugin?

http://www.tapatalk.com/plugin.php

It is free and it allows the integration of the forum onto mobile devices that use the Tapatalk apps.

I'm sure more and more people are browsing the internet more thoroughly using smartphones nowadays. Of course, it can be done via the browser, but there are also free apps around that optimise forum viewing.

Tapatalk (iPhone and Android) and Board Express (Windows Phone 7 - what I have) are the standard-bearers from what I can tell. The app seems really smooth - excellent UI, complete feature-set, the works. Unfortunately, PESGaming.com isn't supported as it doesn't have the Tapatalk app (I presume).

Any chance an admin could see to it that it does?

The link early in this post takes you to a register screen. It is free and I imagine all that is required is the implementation/linking to of some PHP script or something.

Here's hoping.

It says register a "forum owner" account so I'm guessing it would have to be Matt Holme who is able to do it. I can ask him to do it but just getting in contact with him is hard enough, let alone asking him to do something for the forum.

Any movement?

I still think this would be a good idea.

I am sure an admin could register as 'forum owner' - it will just likely be a point of contact for administration.

I am currently on my phone and it works fine...but the Tap-a-Talk apps make things much smoother.

I did send a message to Matt Holme back when I last posted in this thread but he never got back to me. I'll have a go now and see whether I'm able to sort it out myself without the unhelpful owner's help.

Well, he came through for us in the end ... but ... seeing as Matt rarely visits, would he be interested on either selling ownership of the site or leasing the site so that the site can be developed without him?

I can't see this site making him a bucket load of cash, no-one uses the site adverts or purchases from them and the Elite membership has few new subscribers.

Seems to me that for the site to move forward ownership needs to be discussed.

I think the main focus of the site these days is the blogs on the front page which are relatively successful, or at least were the last time I checked. Thanks Matt for finally sorting this out though.

Depends on the revenue stream, but then that begs the question about Matt selling on the forum. This site exists as two separate entities, the blogs and the forums. There's scope for change and development.

Matt has owned this site for quite a while now - almost 3 years - and has about as much input now as he did in the beginning so I'm unsure whether he has any plans to sell on the site, he's quite happy to just let it run itself. I imagine the revenue he gets from the site is decent as otherwise he'd be doing something to improve it or would have sold it by now. He also owns soccergaming.com by the way.

Matt is obviously quite shrewd with his investments, so if it was financially beneficial to sell the site he would. I'd be curious to know what the outlay was purchasing the site.

Happy to answer all the questions that have come up.

I don't login often, but I certianly "drop by" the forums at least 2-3 times per week. I also check out the front page daily.

The site doesn't make a "huge" amount of money, but all those ads do generate revenue. PESGaming is part of a rather large network of sites that I own/host, all of which you can see listed at www.soccergaming.com. As a result, PESGaming is a very important part of the network and I don't have any intention of parting way with it anytime soon.

I like to let the admins/mods run the site as obviously they know the site best. I know from experience that there is nothing worse than a website owner who likes to call the shots but does not take part in the day to day community.

If something comes up and you need a response, you can be assured I'll reply to any email sent to matt (at) soccergaming.com.

Any further questions or concerns, let me know either here or via email.

Cheers.

I respect that ... but I would be interested in discussing things further with you about that.

I gave it some thought and although Matt is unlikely to sell I'd like to contribute financially to the up keep of the site.

Happy to discuss these things further if you wish. I don't intend to sell, but if you have questions I'd be happy to answer them. Since some of the questions are likely private, please email them to me at matt at soccergaming.com.
