Despite both comments above we were unbeaten last night. I'll be on from around now, not particularly interested in the Arsenal game.

I like how, after a few shitty corners tonight, Barn was like: fuck this shit, I'll take them myself. Then he got 2 assists almost immediately

Also, putting a player in front of the keeper for a direct free-kick is definitely a tactic we should look to employ.

Haha, yeah Barn's corners were great. As for putting Barn in front of the keeper, definitely a good idea as my free kick was actually shit but still went in!

I arrived late and just sort of threw myself into him as you were taking the free-kick...by the looks of things I knocked him just off centre, which allowed it to go into the top middle. In turn I was sent on my arse for my efforts. I will repeat the tactic - given the new collision system in this game it seems a lot more fruitful to block the keeper.

I had a few other corners after that game and they were shit, though they were outswingers as opposed to inswingers.

I really need to improve my VP, still on 60 something. I'm sure that's the only reason my passing can be shit at times..................

I tend to try and get in the keepers way at set pieces but unfortunately when I do it at corners, the ball is played in towards me which leads to the keeper picking it up easily as I'm 5' 8". If Barn were to do it though, it could come in handy.

I was loving Joel's press-up celebration after one of the goals last night. I was doing a telephone - or was it a DJ? - celebration most of the time which is a simple press of the down button I think. I'm gonna try to mix up the celebrations as I usually end up doing the same old ones over and over again.

I won't dwell on tonight, but regardless of how frustrating it's getting, you never pick on individual performances - it's just not cricket and is out of order. We're all shit at times, we all make mistakes - you don't single it out. I'm sure if we all commented on our 'observations' we probably wouldn't have a team through everyone fucking off.

Just to elaborate on a couple of things I said, which caused confusion:

- I said we needed to be more patient and stop trying to force openings - some people, understandably, took this as me saying that we should dwell on the ball and take our time choosing a pass. What I meant by it was that I feel, at times, we go for non-existant openings and try to force a chance, rather than being patient, retaining possession and waiting for the opportunity to fashion an opening. I thought that was especially obvious tonight.

I then said, after the next game, that we needed to move the ball about quicker and, obviously, some people thought I was contradicting myself, which was again understandable. Basically, I just meant we should get our passes away more quickly and, if it was just a simple ball, which would do nothing but retain possession that's fine. For what it's worth, I thought, we improved a hell of a lot in those two areas in the final couple of games of the night and, unsurprisingly, we won both.

And ftr I'm just as culpable of these two things as anyone else, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be brought up, as they're things, which we, as a team, can improve on.

Now, onto Barn's post - I, of course, understand what you're saying. However, when I said the second point on the team chat screen, someone (I think it might've actually been you, Barn) said: 'Who Bam?' so I guess I thought I should tell people who I thought was culpable. I don't really see what the big deal tbh - when we initally started playing, Original? and Phat singled me out, rightly, for calling for the ball too much. I took the criticism on-board and I think I've improved a lot in that area, as a result. Tbh if a tiny little constructive criticism, like the one I gave, makes you upset, then you should just man up.

Be careful criticising individuals, especially in the dressing room, due to the limitations of the typing it can be difficult to express yourself clearly. Singling out people should be a last resort, in your example Bammers the statement was made generally at least a dozen times before we said it to you directly. You can also see how naming 3 people directly out of 6/7 might make it seem that you don't believe yourself to be a culprit. Regardless of what you mean to say, it's what the other person interprets your words as that is important.

Did we need to move the ball quicker? Yes. Should you have named people? No. However, we are all adults (I believe) and it doesn't really matter, it's a bit of a misunderstanding. Bammers, your last sentence is not constructive. Let's move on.

I see where you're coming from, but, as I said, I was asked to name who was doing it, by someone, and it wasn't like I'd just ripped into everything about them - I'd simply asked them to move the ball about a bit quicker. It's not exactly the worst insult in the world, is it? My last sentence wasn't constructive, but it is true and, for what it's worth, the three people I mentioned upped their game after that and were excellent in the last couple of games.

And you didn't say it a dozen times - a couple, perhaps, but you said it directly to me pretty early and you were right to do so - by naming me, directly, it meant the emphasis was on me to think about what I was doing, rather than just taking the comment on board, but doing nothing about it.

I'm so glad you felt I upped my game Bammers after your constructive criticism, have you ever thought about a career in self help?

If we were all commenting on individuals and their performances post game i don't think we'd get a chance for another game as the list of peoples views and complaints could be endless. I could pick out faults in everybodys play style, but what would be constructive about targeting the newer guys, especially when the faults are to do with their SHIT VP?

This was my first batch of VP games in well over a year barring one last week, and I really don't have the time to invest in improving my VP beyond what he is, so get used to him not having the best first touch or reactions, taking time to turn or put a decent pass through, giving the ball away every now and then through a shit first pass, pulling up with injuries in the 80th minute etc but tbh, this is why I don't play Club mode regularly, it descends to cuntage

It's not the worst insult, it's not an insult it is criticism. The way it sounded in the dressing room chat was not particularly constructive. Which is why such statements are best made here where you can choose your words more carefully. The simple answer (and the correct one) was to say 'everyone'. You are also not endearing yourself here, statements like 'much improvement' and 'the three people I mentioned upped their game' sound ever so slightly patronising bordering on condescending. Remember nobody covered themselves in glory throughout last night and it's important that you come across as if you realise that, which I'm sure you do, else we get these arguments.

Finally, no I didn't say it a dozen times, I said it several times as did Phatmann an others, collectively it was said a dozen times. On that note, there's still some dodgy calling for the ball going on. I realise that not every dodgy CPU pass is the result of someone calling for the ball but it's frustrating when you see people waving their arm in the air for no good reason. This goes for everyone, remember the CPU is retarded, we got enough evidence of that from the goalkeeper last night. If you call for the ball the CPU passes straight away, it won't turn, take a touch and pass it calmly, it will spin and lob it to you instantly so you need to make sure there is definitely a simple pass on.

Anyway, I'm moving to a new apartment later so I won't be on until I get the internet sorted.

We need someone to play as any to counteract the shitness of the CPU
I did this a few times when we first started playing and it was decided that it would be better off using the CPU as any as we were finding it hard to build up attacks. On the whole the CPU any is pretty good; it's just a case of one or two silly errors here and there. I don't think there are many who would put themselves forward to play there anyway as it's a pain in the arse trying to track the oppo's lightning fast forwards with these shitty randomly created defenders.

Yes a CPU any is best.

I would concur with Original. The problem Bammers is that the criticism wasn't even fair, not least in Jonno's case, as he only played two games, and to be honest I probably saw you and myself lose the ball more in those games than he did.

If we're laying our cards on the table, I will offer some thoughts. While I don't expect us to play down the flanks every time we attack, when we do find ourselves on the wing, I would like us to cross the ball more, in good positions (not delivering it at the byline or weak foot). Too often we cut inside and end up going the 'Arsenal' route. I didn't make my guy huge for nothing. And while I don't expect to receive every ball, I do think we should at least play to our strengths in the aerial department. If we're coming through the centre than feel free to pass through the middle, shoot, etc, but I just think we overlook crossing too much. I also think you should be cowardly and turn on assisted crossing if you don't have it on.

Also, I think I'm a lot better playing as the lone striker in a 4231 formation, with plenty of support.
