Team PESInsight (PS3) - FIFA 12 Clubs

So...that game (you know which one I'm talking about) was really not good enough from a PESInsight team (and I include my own performance in that ftr). It felt a bit like, after we'd scored the first goal, we just expected an easy win and completely took our foot off the gas. Our retaining of possession, usually one of our key strengths, was woeful. We completely lost our shape too, perhaps due to the change in formation and the anonymous CPU CDM (was he even playing?). But, yeh, I don't want to see another performance like that again from a PESInsight team (as I said earlier, I was as woeful as anyone).

And just a general thing on calling. Generally, I think we're pretty intelligent and cautious with our calling, which is good. But I would advise that we're particularly cautious with calling for lofted through balls from the CPU, as a) the CPU are rarely good enough to execute them properly, making them a great way to give away possession easily and b) it kinda goes against our whole possession-based, short-passing playing style. It doesn't happen very often, but it did happen a few times tonight, so it's just something to watch out for.

I prefer the normal formation with Joel up top on his own with 2 wingers/forwards. It felt too crowded in the middle last night.

Having 3 of us instead of 2 in midfield makes such a difference as well. If there's only 2, then one of us needs to play as a DM I think. I don't mind stepping in.

Guys, fancy giving us a challenge next time? I was so bored of pummelling you last night that I ended up switching the ball between my full backs on several occasions. Also, you might want to ask Original? not to pass the ball to Barndoor with the goalie as Barn doesn't mess around in front of goal. Even at 1-0 down we knew who would win in the end simply because of who was playing on each team.

CPU was ANY last night.

You all better be on after the games tonight. I demand a rematch!

How is it that this forum has 2 teams on the PS3 and none for Xbox 360? I thought the Xbox 360 was suppose to be the more popular console.

I don't know really, must just be a lack of fifa xbox players on here, regulars anyway.

Anyway, thanks for giving me my first derby win, guys. Means a lot.

Original?

Bammers, clearly we played crap as we lost 4-1 but I think we can point a rather large finger at the CPU defending. Not even trying to pick up the men in the box for the first two and then the classy assist for Barn. Phat should have been closed down quicker as well but you can't really worry about conceding from 30 yards, great goal.

Regarding the formation, the only difference was the CM to CDM, everything else was identical, I have no idea why this would have caused the problems. More just a dire performance, the passing was woeful and so was the movement, that said we moved on and won the next few games immediately.

4-3-2-1 was our preferred formation but unfortunately Judas fucked off and thus we have no-one to play RF. Berry and Joel both prefer to play through the middle and can provide width when necessary. It would help with the crowding if the midfield didn't push up so far toward the attack so early.

Like you said one of you needs to sit deeper to help out the CPU and give us an out ball when we're pushing on. Bammers tends to bomb on more often and you retain possession which works well, that said when you do push on Bammers needs to restrain himself a little. Also at times you see the LCM and RCM on the same side too far out wide which is causing problems when the opposition switch it.

Regarding width, I try to drift to either side at times and change things up but I think when you and Bammers push on it would be good to keep the width of the 3 and involve the full backs a bit more to get ball down the line into the channels for Joel and Bez to get onto.

Assume we have the ball on the left, I would expect us to have a shape something like:

---------------------Bez-----------
---Joel------------------------------
-------------Me-----------Bammers-
-FB-----Bish -----------------------
----------------CDM----------------

This gives an option for a cross into the box, Bammers stretching the opponent's width and me and you offering opportunities to pass it short between us. Any counter-attack requires them to play through five of us, switch it along their backline or hit a very good long ball. Too often we lack this shape when attacking and me, you and Bammers are crowding each other. Obviously if we're attacking down the right we would flip this positioning.

I think we can make this formation work but I'd like to point out we've only lost 1 or 2 with the 4-3-1-2 and won the majority which is much better than we were doing towards the end of the 4-3-2-1.

I didn't really have much choice, especially seeing as how Berry said he might be interested and then said nothing more.

Anywhere suits me but my preferred position is LF or CF can do the AM thing aswell if those aren't an option.

Time you heading on?

Cool man. I'm pretty versatile so we'll fit you in. Depends how many of us turn up of course.

Will be on any time between half 9 and 10. Not quite sure yet, and not sure when everyone else is heading on either. Think Joel's coming on once the Chelsea's game over though :)
