Go to Edit, Preferences, Privacy & Security, Popup Windows, and check if the Block unrequested popup windows is on. Well, I've got Mozilla Firefox and have never seen this mosquito people are talking about.

No. The only advise then, is to install a popup blocker.

All I know is, less than a week ago every ad-board on this site (and others) was blank for me and had been for months. Now I see them everywhere. Clearly something has changed at my end, but I don't have a clue what.
Alvin's right; they're not pop-ups. MZagallo's wrong; Firefox settings have nothing to do with it. I'm guessing an ad-blocker is the only way to stop them.
