The Boss
right im clearly the only one not in on this little secret, so how do you do the powerful sorta lobs? its not l1+shoot because that does a fairly weak one... im on about the ones which go sailing over the keepers head but at quite a bit of pace.... ps2 explination please, not xbox.

The beautiful game
in the manual of pes4 it says two types of lob shots the one you mentioned l1+square

second 1 it says is a low chip shot by pressing the square button then pressing r1 while the gauge is displayed i would presume this is the strong chip shot.

[ ] + R1 = strong chip
[ ] + L1 = weak chip
R3 down-up fast = very weak chip (6ft, then run & shoot the ball)

Or you can put in the Control Screen the strong chip as pressing twice on the Square-button instead of Square + R1..

Make sure the ball is close to your feet. Then aim your shot at a slightly awkward-ish angle and press sqaure to 1/2-3/4 power, depending on your player. Try this in practice to get an idea of it with different players. Hard to master, unbeatable in game if you volley/half-volley a chipped through ball.

Note: You don't have to do it at an awkward angle, but it does make it more succesful. The less awkward the angle, the more power you get, and so you lose accuracy

i can score with that technique from about 30 yards if it goes well for me...
but i tend to do the cheeky little dinks over the keepers when they are sprinting out of their goal..this is usually just inside the box mate..
