Sorry but I am not some out of touch american kid who knows nothing of football. I played football for a junior team when I was younger and know my role very very well. I have followed the same team since I was a child and have attended plenty of matches in my time. I am infact a proud member of the Tartan Army and have traveled to watch my country play many times. I also regularly watch live matches, and highlights of club teams and nations.
Face scanning involves getting the rights to have them(the player) in the game for the devs, some players this is frankly impossible to do. Other simply wont allow there countanace to be in a computer game regardless of who makes it. Other request exorbatant fees that are simply a drain on resources that could be better spent elsewhere. The process itself also requires the subject to be present for an accurate face scan to be taken. This means making the subject available to get the scan which might be a busy time and impossible for them or one that they simply refuse to do.
Agreed. I have no interest in playing the Champions League mode. I dont see the need for it at all tbh, its imo again a waste of time, effort and resources
Really this is a farsical statement. So called "next gen" consoles are actually THIS gen consoles, and all have coding and hardware limitations. Graphics alone will not and never will "make a game", we have already seen it many times before. Indeed we only have to take a glance at Crysis sales to seet that graphics do not gaurantee a good product. Crysis blows everything on consoles out of the water for graphics, but its gameplay is lacking and sales have suffered for it. Not only that but the Wii has outsold both 360 and PS3 and has last gen graphics hardware. There are people still playing on the PS2 who are happy with what they have.
Realising where a games strengths are and seeing the need for improvements in them is a key factor in having a good franchise. There is nothing negative about pointing out where improvements can and should be made to improve the gameplay, and immersion of the game. But there is really no need to have every single player with a lifelike face, nor is it even possible to do by the devs.
You do also have the option I do believe to add in a scanned picture for a players face if you happen to have one so your not totally hamstrung from doing so. There had to be some limitations in what the devs can and do add due to budgets, time constraints, engine and hardware limitations, and availability.
Fair enough.. although the part about being an "out of touch american kid who knows nothing of football" -is- way off. I played Football at Amateur Level, I still play Football every now and then, and I have to say I've played every position there is to play in Football.
Sadly, I was born in the wrong Country -and- my Laziness didn't match my skill. But regardless, I always have fun when playing wich is always useful.
As for "Graphics making a game".. Maybe I wasn't clear enough, NO Graphics alone will never make a good game -but- since we have Next Gen Consoles (still Next Gen as far as I'm concerned), people expect Both the Gameplay and the Graphics. This is Why we pay 500$ for a Next Gen Console.
And as for Classic Players, wich is the topic of this thread, Why would Classic Players looking properly be a waste of Time?? The way I see it, it wouldn't be a waste of time because it doesn't takes that much time to begin with.
Konami didn't had a License for featuring Nike Vapors in the older versions of PES -and- yet, they managed to feature Nike Vapors without the License. They could do the same with the Classic Players.
It isn't really important, it isn't a priority, but then again How hard can it be to Edit some 20 Faces?? I can guarantee Italian customers would prefer to see Roberto Baggio and Franco Baresi in full detail -rather- than having Alan Smith and Peter Crouch with spot on Faces.
That's all I'm saying.. I just don't see how such a simple thing can be considered a waste of time. In my opinion is just laziness from Konami's part.
They should know that seeing spot on versions of Peter Crouch and Robinho -and- then seeing the likes of Pele and Maradona looking all crappy.. that's just Diminishing. If that's How their going to include The Greatest Exponents of Football into the game -then- Why even bother??
It still is a waste of time to edit some Classic Players with crappy looking faces and Inaccurate Stats, even more so considering no one will bother using them.
Bottom Line?? I think proper Faces would give those "Classic Players" a purpose in the game, maybe Unlocking Pele or Maradona and actually using them, etc, etc.. It would definitely add more Value to the "PES shop" -and- it really doesn't takes much time to do.
I just don't see How it would Restrain the Development of the series.
