Formation has nothing to do with shooting!

Formation depends on the type of players you have. If you have trouble scoring, try player 3 up front with 2 as wide wingers. For most defences, that width causes gaps in which your main striker can have more space to shoot. I'd recommend 2 pacey, technically gifted wide players tho and a strong man in the middle. Inter Milan are a good team to practice with.

IMO, 4-4-2, and then scroll down untill you find this one:

I always use 4-3-3 despite the team I play. Middle midfielder is playing foreward. Secon midfielder stays on the midfield with normal attacking and normal defending. Last midfielder has high defending and low attacking.
Defenders all have high defending and low attacking.
Attackers all have high attacking and low defending.

No special walk directions (is that a word??!?) for any of my players.

This tactic works great for me.. I hardly lose my games.

My opinion i think you should see first with what team you play do you have enough sidemidfielders ( SMF ) or maybe u have more DMF players. I usually build a formation based upon how much players of wich position i have and ofcourse how good they are. For example i play with milan and do a 4 2 2 2 formation

why i play 4 2 2 2 is i have good dmfs wich are pirlo, gattuso and vogel and you have great omfs wich are seedorf, kaka, rui costa and even jankulovski. So its up to team i think.

The position editor helps create space also!
one guy suggested playing with Inter, definately a good team to practice with, when you have your wingers up top, instead of tucking them in to a front three, try using position edit and pulling them all the way wide so they are on the touch-lines (looks weird on formation board) - this really is good for creating space, use long switching balls, you will then create so much space to hit shots from all over, try using players with 'middle shot' star playing in behind the striker, they are the ones who very rarely miss the target, ie Lampard..
