The Getaway: Black Monday

50!

115 and Counting...
Sony will be showing The Getaway: Black Monday, at E3 2004. The upcoming PS2 sequel to last year's gritty action game will take place in an enhanced version of the 25-square-mile model version of London, England used last year, with 17 major landmarks added, including the Thames River and the London subway system. The game's story takes place two years after the events in the original game; apparently, a simple bank heist goes horribly wrong, leading both cops and robbers into a heated war. You'll be able to choose one of three playable characters, Mitch, Eddie, and Sam, each of whom will have different abilities and different reasons for involving themselves in the story. These and other characters will be represented onscreen by a cast of more than 20 actors who posed for an all-new set of motion-captured animations.

Like the previous game, The Getaway will feature both driving and on-foot gameplay, though the new game will have an all-new variety of vehicles to steal and drive, including buses, taxi cabs, and motorcycles. In order to complete the game, you'll play through a total of 22 missions, though the game will feature a branching narrative with multiple endings. In keeping with the game's gritty, cinematic feel, the game will feature enhanced physics for both its drivable vehicles and its characters, who will have full facial animations and rag-doll death animations.

The Getaway: Black Monday is scheduled for release later this year.

I think it is being Released in November. I really liked the 1st one and am lookin forward to this one.

Looks good, I like the comparisons in the middle of your pics, sweet. I thought the first one was alright but the controls were a bit dodgy, then I played driv3r and after a while realised that these were worse than the Getaway's so hopefully they've improved them and the AI will be upto scratch as I don't even wanna talk about the AI on driv3r. Does look sweet, the London Underground could be amazing.

It was superb, better than GTA Vice City in a way.

I would'nt class it better than Vice City but it was a really good game and i really enjoyed playing it. It was still a really good game but i'm not sure if it being released at the time of GTA:SA, GT4, PES4, CM and FM will help it's cause.

Being a Londoner and what with having been put in one of those once or twice ;) I'd like to vouch that the fed cars look proper bo

I was planning on not getting this when I heard it was going to be set in Liverpool
( ? ) but I'm sure I'll end up forking out and will once again try and drive to my house (and will probably again be foiled by a blasted barrier - damn them!)

Edit: I just saw the picture with the flats in it - shit those look exactly like a set near me. That must mean they've extended out a lot further then, you'd never find those further in like in the first one :D

The Liverpool thing was just a rumour. The Getaway without London just wouldn't be the Getaway!

I rebought the first one on Saturday and am playing free roaming to death! It's funny but it's way better than when I first had it all those years ago!

There is nothing like driving a hijacked Ambulance through Oxford Street with the sirens going! (and bashing the Police cars outta the way)

The Getaway2 is looking amazing - I hope there's still a free roaming mode after you complete it.

I think that graphic wise it is far better then GTA, but theres something missing from this game.

Still a great game, i mean what other game lets you race down Oxford street in a Smart Car??

GTA graphics are too cartoon-y! The Getaway has a much more realistic affect, and also does the story line, i dont think that Being chased by the army, then hiding out for five mins after blowing up a few cars with a flame thrower and getting away with it its very realistic do u? at least the getaway has reall cars!
