May be some helpful tips for the general player

For the experienced players: don't bother reading if you know how to get good players/style of play and formation.

I decided to get me self a shadow team.
With shadow team I mean a squad in which you can try out certain players and formations. This resulted discovering Cardozo is a better CF then Johnny Carew. Carew is a good allround player, but misses to many chances in my opinion. Also I am going to replace Fellaini or Colsa with D'Agostino.

This is my Premier Squad and team I've been playing with from the beginning..

For everyone who wants to make quick progress in gameplay some tips:

Get two teams ( make 2 ps /xbox nor pc accounts) then log in and get started.

Now you've got 1 team for experementing and the other for serious play.

Sort out your players via http://www.pesdb.net/pes2011/index.php?sort=Overall_rating&order=d Really, this is a must!! Don't just buy players because their name is Henry... He looks to be good player... but awful form stats.

The pesdb.net shows the abilities of every single player.. you can use filters so you can check out for example all the players above 1.90m with 80+ at shot accuracy.


One of the main rules: don't get a player with form stats below 4/5.. or you'll end up with a team that'll lack in form.

blah, lost in the d5 cup semis. Furthest I've ever gotten...guy was rubbish and got a rubbish goal, then proceeded to slide tackle me constantly...only two yellows were given when he should have gotten reds and more yellows. Frustrating when a guy goes spikes up in the back of your legs. Also had some great chances, this one time I had 4 guys in the box standing right beside each other (no idea why) I pass to them, straight at the blob of men, and nobody, I repeat NOBODY touched the ball. It went straight on through and was cleared (I wasn't holding r1)

On the bright side, I won in PKs in the first two rounds because the opponent didn't know how to kick them. The one guy even disconnected after he saw me lay a heater into the top corner lol.

Now that I've got a bit of money, I'm considering my next move, may look to replace my one CMF with a better rounded one, but my sidebacks are pretty weak, but they seem to defend well enough.

Quoting myself from another thread.

I have the same problem, but the other way round. I relegated from division 1 even though I was a good 9-10 points clear 24 hours ago.


There's 2 issues to consider:

1. the promotion/relegation limits fluctuate, meaning they can go up or down. I assume its to ensure the top/bottom X percent of the teams promote/relegate. If you were just 1 or 2 points clear of the limit then you might have been unlucky as the limit might have caught up to you during the night.


2. The ranking doesn't update immediately. I don't know if this explains why I relegated (I'm 99% sure the relegation limit didn't go up 10 points overnight) but its a plausible theory. I played my last match and decided to call it a day. I checked the division rankings but it hadn't been updated immediately. So I go back to main menu and start the MLO again. It said I had something like 515 points and that relegation was something like 505, YET even though I was 10 points ahead it still said I was in a relegation spot. I thought whatever, it will update soon so I quit and turned off my xbox.

My guess is you might have to stay in the MLO menu for the division ranking to update.

Anyone else know of this problem?

So I made it into the semifinal of the ML Open. It ends 0-0 and we're in PKs. I win. So I'm very excited to make the final!! Then...

The game quits and I end up in the XMB. WTF??!?!

I load the game back up and check my credits. I won what I did up until that point, but no bonus for making the finals.. or semis or anything..

I'm so fucking pissed.

I was promoted to d4, first time in a couple months. Now there are no competitions this morning =(

Thinking of replacing Gattuso as an anchor man/ball winner, I've got about 1.5 million+Gattuso's 2 million. Any suggestions?

I also want to replace Kahlenberg at cmf for a better rounded support player. Kahlbenberg doesn't have the stamina/body balance and dribbling required to hold up the ball, his passing and shooting is really good though, but he often gets lost in games due to his lack of physical traits.

I had Bouba Diop for like 300 matches. He was a beast, really tall (I think 1.94m) and strong and has decent shooting stats (75 accuracy, 90 power and 80 technique if I remember correctly).

If you save a bit more money then maybe someone like Romaric (Sevilla) would be a better option.

I did not like Romaric a lot, he's solid but his reaction stats are too low (in my opinion) to be a good defensive player.
Just have a look to Perrin, he helps me a lot before I bought Sissokho

toulalan, one of the best buys i've made, can play dm,cm, cb and sb, good all round stats with the anchor man card

I think Toulalan is around 4 million dollars though. Just out of my range right now. I'll have to do well in a couple D4 tournaments to be able to pick him up.

I'm getting to the point where I want to start picking up backups. Most of them will probably be USA players, Jozy Altidore would make a decent and very cheap backup CF. Would be nice to be able to sub in quality players for once. However I need to pick up two new sidebacks (or cbs, as my current ones can move to SB), then maybe get rid of gattuso and my other cmf. So I've got about 3/4 positions i want to replace before building depth.

Had Oscar Cardozo as CF for ages he was an absolute beast for me scoring for fun, but found up that he was slowing up attacks as his passing was poor, saved up money and thought id go for a big money striker. First signed Drogba thinkin his strength would make him unplayable but didnt do it for me, traded him in for Torres who's better but still not worth 4 Cardozo's!!

What is it that makes players like Ruskin and Cardozo so ridiculously good considering how shat their stats are??

Anyone recommend a good all round striker looking at Eto but need to make some bunse first!!

sometimes it takes time to learn a strikers strengths and weaknesses. When I first got Huntelaar, I tried dribbling around with him. Turns out he's pretty rubbish on the ball, and I was giving up possession because of it. So everytime huntelaar gets the ball and isn't in a shooting position, I pass almost immediately.

It's possible Drogba or Torres need more support, maybe a SS or AMF playing close to them who can pass them the ball in space. It's also difficult to get a hold on using high body balance, when the last few pes's have emphasized speed. There are moves you can do with body balance, but it takes practice.

It is the handicap scripting. It is what ruins the whole concept of MLO. The better your players stats are, the worse they play. This is why I always lose to people in div5 with squad assets of 15million£!

Santacroce is right around 2 million. I've had him forever playing as CB (devoured through balls)

80 response, 85 accell 88 speed, 80 some body balance 75 defense, not the best form or heading but remember he's cheap, you can't have everything at that price.

yeah, i'm trying to build a team where none of my players are over 4mil, so far working pretty well for me, in div 3 with 80 games played and around 60% win rate

Does anyone have the CB Distin?

I only need about 600k more and I can pick him up. Going to put him at CB and move my current CB to SB.

All my defenders will have no less than 80 speed/accel with an average of 84 response. Through balls don't stand a chance
