The Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Downloaded the demo last night but not had time to try it. Hopefully tonight.

Just so I've got an idea, what is the scope of the demo? Online stability, good/bad? Any serious bugs in the demo? Any tips for twatting Barn's shire-folk arse?

Any other info gladly received.

I played it a couple of times. Online seems fine but it remains to be seen what full traffic will do to it come release day onwards. Otherwise, I thought it was pretty good. I could see it getting very repetitive though.

Oh my lord, this game is truly amazing

Sodomy at the highest level was happening in 'the' shire just,

Ents were running round killing everything, there were scouts galore knifing everyone in their backs, it was true chaos!!

AND I had my moment of triumph!

I KILLED GANDALF

It really was an amazing feeling man

I usually play as evil, so killing Gandalf is always special.

The key to the Shire is gaining the middle territory first. I usually race to that and try and hold it if I have support, because gaining that gets you either Ents or Trolls, so its vital.

How long do you have to be at the top of the leaderboard to play as a hero?

I was top for like 5 minutes then I died and someone over took me

Had a crack at this on Saturday morning. Certainly interesting. Shire level was too easy as evil. Get the middle as Barn says, then post archers on the bridge providing back-up fire to the melee classes. The bridge makes pinning the poncy goodies last post easy.

I shall not mention the other setting as due to the numerous routes allowing my archer continual death by scout :faceplm:

Had one or two good games where there appeared to be an unspoken strategy. The others pretty much consisted of people randomly wading in and getting slaughtered. Much better with a plan & a co-ordinated attack.

Yeah itd be much better with a plan, but I suppose it'll be better when you can discuss strategy with your team before the game or summat

If your evil though, its important to guard the rear positions, since the good will always get a horse and make a play for the Orc Camp, which is often left undefended. Then you find yourself sandwiched.

In all honesty I haven't tried good yet. Most games i've played tended to fill on the good side first. The only Shire level I was on the losing side for was due to a frigging ent sweeping our last push into the fucking river. By the time we had re-spawned they came at us with 4-5 mages and about 8 scouts and tore us a new arsehole. Not pretty.

If you really want to play as good, just highlight them and keep pressing A, and you will get to play as them.

I should have the game tomorrow, but now I'm really scared. There's no extra AI units online, and the instant action mode has max - wait for it - 16 units on screen at once. 16 units in a Lord of the Rings battle on massive maps. You promised 75 vs. 75 Pandemic. Hopes have gone drastically downhill.
