In the formation settings screen, did you notice that hexagon thingy above the players' abilities? The one with SPD, ATT, POW and so on in the cornes? Did you ever wonder what the heck that was about?
Well, here's a breakdown of the parameters...
POW: Balance (60%)
Shot power (30%)
Jump (10%)
SPD: Dribble sp. (30%)
Acceleration (30%)
Top speed (20%)
Response (20%)
ATT: Attack (70%)
Shot acc. (30%)
TEC: Technique (35%)

For instance, the POW corner of the hexagon depends on the player's Balance, Shot power and Jump abilities but is most sensitive to the Balance (60%), less sensitive to Shot power (30%), and least sensitive to the player's Jump ability (10%). The STA in the hexagon only depends on the players Stamina, and so on...
These abilities do not affect the hexagon:

So suppose you are looking for a CBT. Then you would focus on POW (for Balance), DEF (for Defense) and maybe SPD (for Response, Top Speed, Acceleration). If the CBT should dominate the air, also take a look at his height and Header ability.
