Lyon arrived in Barcelona looking to pick up their first points of the season but were completely outclassed in the first half but managed to keep the scores level until Eto rose above everyone to head in a corner for a lead at the break. Lyon were much more inventive and the second half but still couldnt deliver in the final third. Barcelona had a few chances but not nearly as many as in the first period. But after 2 missed opportunities by Juninhio from dead ball situations and a howler of a miss from Carew Ronaldinhio rounded off a deserved win for the home side with a classy finish in the later stages.

The message to his team was take your chances better, the outcome was a 2-0 result. Barca dominated the first half with Coupet making some outrageous saves. Barcas quick crisp inventive attacking football was too much for Lyon and the pressure finally told when Xavi whipped a ball near post for Eto'o to lose his marker and nod home.
The second half was a total contrast. Lyon threw caution to the wind and Barcelona refused to stop attacking but were frequently caught on the back foot from pacey counter attacks. Juninho wasted 2 set pieces in great positions before Carew hit the howler of the season. Barca saw through the period of pressure and towards the end again enjoyed long peroids of possesion but it wasnt until Messi was sent wide by a clever pass from Iniesta and he found Ronaldinho in the box with three men to beat. Ronaldinho held the ball up spun away from one man ran straight past the other two and slotted bottom corner in the 89th minute.
Good game to watch for the neutrals but I'm sure Lyon will expect more of their players in the coming weeks.
