The path of a PES fan - after getting PES5. Anyone else go through these steps?

If you have played PES4 to death:

1. You start a game on 5 star (the highest currently available when you begin the game).

2. About 10 seconds into the game, you get a worrying feeling because it is *so* slow to what you are used to.

3. Very soon you think this game is crap because you have already committed 10 fouls, turned into the opposition team 20 times, and cannot dribble past any opponents.

4. You score an absolute screamer which boosts your optimism about the game.

5. After a couple of games, you are throwing the controller on the floor in frustration because nothing seems to work, and this is after you have set the game to 3 star. You average 1 goal a game.

6. Soon you realise that you have to relearn everything, and pass the ball around. To dribble past players, you have to change your pace, and timing is crucial.

7. A week or two after playing, you realise that this is the best PES ever.

If you have only played FIFA before:

1. You immediately think the graphics are crap.

2. After a few minutes playing, you realise that FIFA is crap.

is it just me?
i think pro ev looks better than fifa... the players in fifa arent as good in my opinion... look at the heads, also the kits look mince, at least in pro ev u can see all the minute details on the kits as it should be.

im on stage 7, its superb

and i totally agree with stage one on fifa, you cant even see the kits properly and they look smudged and blurred especially the prem badge on the sleeve, its just a blob of white smudge, i no pro doesnt have that on some prem teams cause they cant register them (can be changed) but the liscensed kits look perfect

out of this world and fifa is shite anyway

Agreed. Fifa's stadiums and fields look better, but the players look like plastic shit, and the animation of PES is better.
I'm stll on stage 5 though: So far I don't like the game much, I don't think Dennis Bergkamp not being able to receive a simple pass without bouncing it off his feet is 'realistic', when I switch players using L1 the player in question often stops or alters his run, which kinda ruins it, cause then teh opponent is quicker to the ball, I sometimes have a player that I dont control tackle the opposition, resulting in a free-kick or penalty, and Slow defenders outrunning Henry is NOT realistic, it's Bullshit...

I'm sure I'll occasionally reach level 6 and 7 etc... but I think i just liked PES 4 better (although that one also had it's major flaws...)

PES5 has improved very well in some areas, but also, in some ways, it's just not that much fun anymore, plus the 'realisme' is really just bullshit, like worldclass players letting balls jump off their feet, or making slow turns, yet they can blast a ball into the topcorner from 30 meters out with their wrong foot(!) It's bullshit.

Also, I was very good at free kicks in PES4, and somehow in PES5 they hardly go in anymore...

Penalties still suck big time.

My Henry doesn't get caught. Check stamina levels and make sure you know how to super sprint (hold R1 and tap the direction you're running, or just tap R1) ...

As for touch, you'll learn that soon. It's really all up to the player.. if it bounces off your feet funny then you did something wrong.

I never, capatilize NEVER, italize never, underline never do anything wrong... so I blame the game.

i'am on stage 7 after 2 minutes of my first game although you sub conciously know that it is the best pes ever before you play the game.

I am at stage seven, the stupid bastards at FIFA have got all the licenses so pro can't get them but we will triumph one day, we will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:laugh:
