does anyone else think that the penalty system on pes2 is crap

all u do i press a button and sometimes u will miss and then you will take the penalty again and SCORE!

i think their should be a power bar for the penaltys so their more varied.

what do u think?

but to have the penalty sytem like on FIFA would be crap, if it is the top line you miss, the second to top line you hit the post, and anything else goes in. Crap I tell you.

I think the direction is fine, just maybe a power gauge. I am not that fussed because I am fine with the penalty system at the moment. The chances of scoring on PES/PES2 are quite realistic. Maybe certain people can it is harder than others. E.g. RVN and Shearer

do you notice that that penalties never go right in the corner of the net. like nistelrooy's penalties in real life he nearly always pastes them right in the very bottom corner. maybe if the player has a pk star then they should put it nearer the corner making it harder for the Gk to save it even if he dives the right way.

yeah I agree with that. The penalties never go in the very corners so the keeper has a chance.

I wouldn't be bothered with a power gauge but it could diminish the realistic surprise element when playing against a human opponent.

For those struggling on direction, try holding the direction you want your shot to go for longer. It seems to work with class strikers (eg. Raul, RVN, Henry). I tired it a couple of hours ago while playing WE7 and it managed to pass my mate's keeper who was diving in the same direction. Nearly pin-point in the bottom left-hand corner.

i generally don't like the peneltys any way i hate the way some games end goin to peneltys especially if your playin someone cause you've got to use all your skills in hiding the buttons from yer mate cause you he's tryin to have a peek.
Or am i just paranoid?!?

Penalties

I agree with a couple of points here - Shearer, RVN etc should be better at penalties and the power bar may be a good idea. However do you not think that along the free kicks there is no need for loads of complication as there is in FIFA. I think it makes good fun especially when playing a mate that there is a limited number of directions a player can score.
It means that you also have an equal chance of saving them. If you regularly went into Penalties when playing mates or even the cpu then you could just practice them right before hand so you never missed. That would make it more unrealistic surely.

Just my opinion :)

at the moment it is just like playing rock scissors paper... a power gauge would make it better ...

I think the penalty system is a bit too simplistic. A power bar is a decent idea but could be a bit of a give away when playing against a human opponent. Perhaps the power bar coul be visible during training but would be hidden during matches so you have to use your intuition.

I would also like to see more use of the analog sticks for penalties so you really can place the ball where you want.

And for keepers, how about a button so that they can perform signature 'distraction moves' such as Richard Wright's outstretched arms and wiggle, and Jens Lehmanns gay side to side trot. Or even being able to sneakily move a foot or two off the line when the ref isnt looking. :D

i find the the only player to have a different technique is Roberto Carlos he seems to belt um harder than every1 else

Good ideas there from jamez.
Using a visible power bar with real analogue control would work well. You could give it full power and position it just near the bottom corner to blast it in. If you position the stick too wide, it goes wide. Might work. PES4!

I rarely get penalties anyway in-game - i've probably had maximum of 5 penalties throughout the whole playing of pes2.. but it's cool when you get 1 cos u know it's gona be a goal

anyway, as in real-life, 9 times out of 10 penalties will be converted. maybe they could make them a tiny bit harder but not much, you should be scoring your penalties on any game
