Was playing against Man Utd (BAL) Owen and Valencia were what you can only call Grey plastic Mannequins so was Zhirkov from Chelsea , no faces hair anything just in case you didn't know

Plastic mannequins running around; sounds a bit Dr Who to me! No, I've not encountered that myself to be honest and it's not been mentioned before. Have you started a new BaL or did you carry your save over?

I saved my old save folder and just replaced it with yours .... could be the reason ?

Was Owen and the other 2 new add ins ????

PS .... Changes had occured to other players appearances in the game so it worked but not with these 3 so far.

This is how it looks for me (I'm on Konami 1.3):

The following players had new face presets in the last DLC (or maybe the one before):

DEMBELE - AZ
GIBBS - Arsenal
GRANERO - Real Madrid
IVANOVIC - Chelsea
LISANDRO - Lyon
ONYEWU - Milan
OWEN - Man Utd
SERGIO ASENJO - Atletico Madrid
THIAGO MOTTA - Inter
VALENCIA - Man Utd
VERMAELEN - Arsenal
ZHIRKOV - Chelsea

Try 'defaulting' the player in 'edit' mode to see if this makes any difference. Anyway, this seems to be where the problem lies. If this doesn't work then there's something I could try for the next update...

mmm ? I have the base game just now ... but the likes of the celtic players have changed in facial features and hair from the new file. All the other Utd players are fine just Owen and Valencia and same with Chelsea all are fine bar Zhirkov ? why these 3 and not the others ???

Ok I will give the Default a go ..

I don't think it'll be just those 3 players, have you checked these:

DEMBELE - AZ
GIBBS - Arsenal
GRANERO - Real Madrid
IVANOVIC - Chelsea
LISANDRO - Lyon
ONYEWU - Milan
SERGIO ASENJO - Atletico Madrid
THIAGO MOTTA - Inter
VERMAELEN - Arsenal

as I said, new face presets were implemented for these players by Konami as part of new DLC (plus Owen, Valencia & Zhirkov).

Aye, cheers mate. Romanov didn't fancy him? Feel free to let me know about any player who you think I might have missed, the SFL in particular is hard to keep tabs on at times. :)

I always wanted to use the 3rd kit because it provides a better contrast to the home one but the only time we wore it before we lost! But now we've won in it I'm gonna use it instead of the white away kit. It also means that in PES it's better for playing St Mirren, Kilmarnock, Hamilton & Celtic (in away games) 'cos there's a lot of white in their home kits (and even in Hibs').

That's also the reason why I opted to use Killie's 3rd kit. :)

Hi again TT

I've a question for you if I may. And please for one second do not take this as crticism. If it weren't for your file, I would only play PES 2010 when my mates were round. Now, thanks to those CIS Cup games with Accies on a wet midweek game, I can't get enough of the damn thing! It's just fantastic and, when used in conjunction with the community mode it gets better and better.

Anyway my question: what logistical steps did you use when ranking individual players and therefore overall abilities of teams. Although I play on Top Player, I noticed every game was so tight and often ends in draws. This wouldn't do for the famous Glasgow Celtic, so I decided to do a very quick straw poll.

(no jokes about Celtic are probably just as good as Accies these days please :))

What I did was, I entered the edit section and first went to, say Man utd. I noted in excel the overall ranking of the first XI to get a total. I then divided this total to get the average overall Ranking for that team.

I know it's a bit basic but her are some of the results:

(team name / average first X1 ranking)

Liverpool 79
Chelsea 84
Man utd 80
Barca 83
Real 83
Milan 79
Inter 85

so far so good? ok next..

celtic 69
rangers 69

in relation to chelsea etc...fair enough, but next?

accies 68
hibs 68
dun utd 68
st john 66
buddies 66

dundee 66
airdrie 64

Now with ranking being marked out of 100, lets just call them percentages.

- Are celtic really only 5% better than airdire
- 1% better than accies?
- 3% better than dundee?

Anyway, I could go on but you get my drift...

It feels as if most of the teams are so evenly ranked, that there are no games harder than others ie a home game against accies in the cup is just as difficult as Rangers away in the SPL. In "real life" obvioulsy there are some games you are confident of picking up the points and others where you know you'll need to raise your game.

I'd just like your thoughts mate. Again, please do not think I am having any sort of go, as I can easily of course change anything I want myself. I can't thank you enough for this OF, I would just like to know your train of thought.

And looking forward to any more updates when the window closes!

Cheers

Hello jfist,

Actually, I started editing the Classic Teams a while back but got sidetracked by the last 2 Konami updates but I'll get back on it soon. However, I'm probably gonna disappoint you because I'm not doing Classic Teams but Under 21s (Scotland, England, Spain, Italy, Germany) and New Zealand & Algeria for the World Cup. :)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi BB,

That was interesting. But Inter at 85? That's a bloody disgrace. :) And Liverpool at 79? Way too high. :D

My gut instinct about the teams I created for the OF (ie. [and not including the Euro teams I made] the 8 SPL and 10 SFL teams) was that by-and-large they 'feel' about right. I play loads of games between Scottish teams and generally I'll go for the 'lesser' team vs the 'bigger' team. So, the other day it was Morton vs Celtic and I got a win but it was tough and I had to work hard and concentrate. I've played ML with Hibs and Ayr Utd; with the former it was fine but with the latter it was a bit of a slog! Mind you, that might say more about my PES-playing skills than anything else...

I generally play on the notch below you because it makes for a more entertaining game. In my experience and from reading stuff on the forums it seems that Top Player makes the opposition tough to beat no matter who they are. Not very scientific but that's the impression I get and it's the reason I play on the level I do.

As for player stats I simply use the Football Manager database and convert to PES. So in that sense it's 'out of my hands'. On the very rare occasion that a player isn't in that database I give my 'best guess' and base him on an 'archetypal player' for his position, age and level of football. The whole stats thing is fairly subjective but at least Konami have many different abilities which can create a nuanced player and one that can be deemed 'accurate'. Again, on the forums you'll hear people saying "Bloody Clownami, Torres stats are way too low" or "Con-ami's stats are minging" or whatever.

I did worry at first that the SFL teams would be so poor that they would be a walkover but I'm glad that you're finding otherwise and if anyone wants a proper challenge then play ML with an SFL team. One of the main disparities between Celtic and Airdrie is the size and quality of the respective squads and in ML there is no doubt that Celtic would fair better, taking into account fatigue and injury, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback; I hope I've answered your question and not waffled on and/or obfuscated too much.:)

Oh, and no criticism taken and thanks for the positivity!

TTFN,

TT

Many thanks TT, answers just about everything I was after.

You could be right about Top Player tbh. Games can tend to become a bit pinball-like as every team tends to take at most one touch then pass, even when it wouldn't make sense to do that.

It definitely is difficult to strike that balance. I tweaked Celtic to an average ranking of 71 (up from 69) and then played Rangers. I ran out 5-1 winners but it just felt too easy, which takes away any satisfaction. And that was only upgrading them 2% so it's a toughie.

It's weird aswell though (if you use FM databse) as, for example, in your PES2010 OF, Koki Mizuno is by far and away our squads best player. Surely that couldn't be the case in FM? Not asking you to answer this though (or we'd be here all day), but I actually tweaked his stats majorly down or he would need to be in my starting XI every time.

It's interesting though...

I might repeat my exercise (average rankings) but do it for each full squad, not just the first team and see how the results differ.

Could be going down the Rabbit hole a bit too much though!

In other thoughts:

How far do people go to re-create the typical Scottish Season? First of all, I simply done an ML with Div 1 featuring all the SPL teams and the best of the English teams. Div 2 had SFL teams, Celtic (me) and some lower EPL clubs. kindas lke a best of Britain.

This was good but, after a while, I inevitably had to start buying/selling players and I felt I didn't get enough play with the Celtic players I know today.

Then I thought "use community mode." This is better (only 22 games in a league though) but at least you have no need/chance to buy new players, which gives you a true experience.

But you have no Cup. Or CL. Or Europa.

I then went to Community mode and started a community for:

- SPL
- CIS Cup
- FA Cup

I planned to start my SPL as normal, then after about 5 games, switch over to my CIS Cup, then after another 2 SPL games or so, switch over to the FA Cup.

If I won the SPL, I even planned to do the same type of thing to incorporate the CL the following season.

It's just so difficult to keep so many plates spinning. This is your fault! You have made a casual "play with your mates game" into an all consuming obsession!!

:)))

My god (whispers), I am even thinking about drawing up a "season" in excel, so I can map out which games I should be switching over to and when. The only thing I think you would sacrifice from playing this way is you won't get goal tallys over the whole season like you do in ML etc. And of course you can't buy players, but you'll keep our qsuads updated anyway won't you, so it's still like playing the real thing.

How do you play the game personally?

PS - excuse the long winded rambling post, so many possibilities to use this great OF!!

;)
