Description: Played 347 games and scored 284 goals in 12 seasons (1959/1971). Torres was very tall for a footballer. He rather looked like a basketball player. He didn’t start playing immediately – when he got to the club, there was a wonderful striker “taking his place”. His name was José Águas. In 1962 Torres would finally replace Águas and become an irreplaceable player. He moved very easily inside the box. In the air, he almost “suffocated” opponent defenders with his impressive height of almost 2 metres. Torres had good heading, which he used to make countless assists for his team mates, including the great Eusébio. In the 60’s, despite not having played the Champions Cup finals in 1960 and 1961, he played 3 other finals, but never won the trophy. However, he was one of the most utilized players during the 1966 World Cup. He played every game and scored 3 goals in the competition. Torres played 33 times for the national team. With Benfica, he won 9 Championships and 6 Portuguese Cups. He even was the league’s top scorer in 1963, scoring 26 goals.

Description: Played 803 games and scored 473 goals in 18 seasons (1968/1986). Nené is still the 3rd best ever scorer in Benfica’s history, right after Eusébio and José Águas and the 3rd best scoring headers (88 goals). He scored 33 hat-tricks (24 of 3 goals, 5 of 4 goals and 4 of 5 goals!). He also converted penalties with ease (39 goals). He was a fast player and started as a right-winger (459 games). His assists were perfect. In 1976, coach John Mortimore couldn’t find a striker for the team and he chose Nené to do the job. He played 212 games as a striker. Very cool (and cold) in front of goal, he scored very easily. He played 66 times for the national team and scored 22 goals. He was captain of the national team 6 times and was present in the 1984 European Championship in France. He was often accused of not getting his shorts dirty, due to his wonderful effort management (when he saw he couldn’t get to a long ball, he simply quit and used that energy later in the game, to score when no one expected him to), but he became a record breaker in the club – 10 Championships and 7 Portuguese Cups – having played 5 Cup finals and scoring a hat-trick in the 1981 final against FC Porto. He was the league’s top scorer in 1981, scoring 20 goals.

Description: Played 479 games and scores 207 goals in 11 seasons (1959/1970). He was very elegant and got past opponents with class and style. He was even called the “Portuguese Garrincha”. José Augusto had two great feet and had the ability to shoot, pass and control the ball with any of them. He was also very good in the air. Even though he was not a striker, he scored regularly in his career. He read the game intelligently and his passing was extremely accurate, as well as his shots and headers. Some local and international press at the time considered him to be the best in the world in his position. In 1964, Augusto made two appearances for a “World Team” and scored once. He was capped 45 times and scored 9 goals for the national side and was part of the team that finished the 1966 World Cup in 3rd place. For Benfica, he won 2 Champions Cups, 8 Championships and 3 Portuguese Cups.

One of the best Threads on Insight Ive seen, very handy for people like me. Love Classic Teams, pity those classic players show up in ML, but hey, i just dont buy them anymore. Have you possibly done a Classic Ajax yet?

Gotta update some of my classic players, these stats look way better. Dont have a Max Drive or X-Port, so until I get it I just do it myself.
