I hear you but your missing the point..

Im not saying 2008 was perfect .. i do however think 2009 was a good game with much room for improvement as they have done now with 2010..

The issue is..

when you realise its not to " your expectations" do you boycott it or still have fun with the game..

I chose to enjoy the game and not cut off my nose to spite my face..

Many people didnt play either fifa or pro last year as it didnt meet "their expectations"

Perhaps some people have expectations too high..??

fair point - its the cut off point which I am confused about though. What would it take for you not to buy it - what do you define as progress for the series

so do you think the underlying core game engine is the same or an entirely new one?

all the things you mention are minor tweaks they are not representative of a 'new game'

i could just say, defenders, tweaked a bit, shooting tweaked a bit, players made to stumble, tweaked a bit, none is new or revolutionary, i dont udnerstand how you cant see that it is PES09 with bolt ons?!

ill quote francis again for good measure:

Pes 2010 just doesn’t feel like a next-generation game… still. I thought Pes 2009 did not live up to the standard we should have been able to expect, and Pes 2010 does just feel like Pes 2009 with 360 movement.

took stick for saying Pes 2010 was a great game when it is finally released and you guys find that it’s basically just Pes 2009 with a few additions

^It's more than tweaking at all. It's fixing what was broken. You can tweak something already good.
And for Christ sake. stop quoting the bad points. Francis is 1 tester who didn't like it, but there are many more that liked it.
I will never agree with francis even if I am referring to the we demo. That alone proves my point. But it's his opinion anyway and the other one said that he also doesn't agree with francis. It's all about opinions.
Pes 09 was a tweaked version of 08, because you still had:
bad ositioning
bad defence
dribble with everyone
Though those happened less in pes 09 than in 08. That's tweaking.
But at least the we demo made those much better.
Defence is much better (1st major problem in pes 09)
AI is harder (2nd major problem in pes 09)
AI positioning is better (though it can be better)
Shooting is better
Dribbling can't be used all the time (a major problem in pes 09 was that you can dribble with anyone)
Lots of individuality added.
Making the defence this better is surly not tweaking or a 0.2 version of the previous release.
I cannot understand your argument because the we demo alone is surly not pes 09.2. It's just 2 different things. I see it more like pes 6.

I'd be glad if FIFA 10 got more sales and better reviews, then Konami may finally realise they need to stop tweaking little things and give the game a complete overhaul it deserves. Even if this means delaying the next PES until 2011.

My opinion, mind you. PES is a good game, but I really believe it's lacking some factors that made me play it every day back in the PES5 days.

^ Me too mate. But as to this thread - I will judge for myself how good/bad it is when pes gets released in a week.

Whats basically happened is pes10 is very subtle and deep and requires a deeper understanding and level of skill to get the best from it whear as fifa10 is more gratifying and pick up and play and this has been reflected in the review score because many journos havent clicked or come to fully understand the subtlety and depth of pes10.

This will change in the months to come though as its always hard to draw a comprehensive conclusion on a footie game in 2 weeks or a few days.

And yet you have with a crappy demo!

You know, if i hear that bullcrap one more time i swear i'll scream.

Talk about treating people like idiots.

Its a fecking Pes game, a game ive bought every single incarnation of since the days of ISS.

Im a seasoned gamer, im a seasoned patcher of the sodding thing, i know how to play it, i just dont enjoy it because of its shortcomings. theres no magical formula so stop pretending there is one!

jeez, some people!

^ You definetely have some points here mate. I agree that it's nonsense talking about a full game based on a shite demo. Furthermore i don't get why people think that Konami will make a bug free game in one year. If they skipped the next couple of years and worked several years on the title, i think they would have a chance to make something incredible - Like they do with the Metal Gear series..
But i wouldn't personally be without my yearly dose of pes :)

I agree mate. I dont mean to get angry but im not bothering to post on Pes forums just to go on a wind up.

I genuinely want to see the game return to its former ways and if it takes harsh criticism, well then so be it.

Like you i think Konami need to take two years out and rebuild.

PES is not even out to the public yet. Still 6 Days.

Not even then we can't decide. FIFA has had over 3 Weeks already, give PES2010 until at least November till we dicide which is better.

To me i couldnt care less what others say about the game, Granted that a review is meant to sway your decision or at least lead you in the direction of a good or "better" game, but what one man loves, another may hate, so i will be getting a copy of pes 2010 regardless of what reviews, (biased or not) are released on it.

If then i dont enjoy it, its only my money and time i wasted, so noone will have to suffer, but i am sure i will love it!!

Roll on friday!!!

I think pes needs to go back to the quick wizz wizz bang bang gameplay of the ps2 versions. This whole slow up the gameplay stuff is only holding it back. It hasnt got the annimations to be slow build up game.

^I wouldn't personally vote for pes being like it was on the ps2 - at least not like pes6. Played it the other day, and there is indeed bugs there as well.
