Impossible to trick defenders and run past them anymore and if you are lucky enough to get past them they just stick to you and catch up unrealistically (some ponies playing for rosenbourg catching up with torres for example) Stepovers don't work, you can't do that dragback anymore - it says you can on the command list but doesn't make any sense of how to do it, can't do spin move.

Passing is a waste of time the ball goes to the wrong player or the computer's player all the time.

Tackling doesn't work either the computer's players just seem to bumble past you or miraculously turn and pass when there's no way they have the room or skill to do it.

The opposition AI is great - they are challenging and unpredictable at times
The AI on your team is so lame - you never have anyone truning forward to pass to.

So compunded with the facts that dribbling is worthless and the passing is more than questionable it's impossible ot have a fast moving attacking game.

THIS GAME IS BORING.

Am I missing something? Do I need to just get used to it?

Yes, and as for the tricks lol you can do step overs, dragbacks and roulettes try using the left analogue stick. And as for not getting past defenders try be more creative in play, 1-2 passes, balls over the defence etc.

Just stick with it mate, with how the controls are this year it's like learning to play pro all over again. You will learn to love it.:)

Maybe put it down a difficulty level to start off with to get use to it, that's how I usually ease my way into new PES games I struggle with at first.

I got my copy in the post today. I've played 4 games tonight and it def takes some getting used to! It's slower than 2008, but in a good way.

Def better than 2008 but the only thing that's annoying me is why they've swapped the skill button from the right stick to the left? I'm finding it impossible to pull off any tricks without halting my run. Is there any way of changing the controls around so the left stick passes and the right stick does the skills? I've tried the control options but there isn't that option?

I think that will be your best bet man. Sounds to me like your just frustrated. If you feel like parts of the game are simply "hard" it's probably not the game itself. It'll come with practise.:cool:

use the L1 button to make players run forward after passing with them works for me.

Quality game 9/10

If you wanna beat your man dribble slowly towards him and comit him then turn and spint past him.

I love this game soo much. Possibly best pes so far. Anyone who sais this is anywhere near 2008 is an idiot. Commentary is and a couple of things but there is soo much stuff to do and gameplay is quality. Well it is with AC Milan

If you on top player just lower the difficulty to pro or regular. On top player the ai gets a big stat boost, which is why these slow players can match pace with your speed demons. Always been like this in every pes.

Decrease the difficulty. Maybe you aren't good enough to play in top player and need to train more.

PES is football sim not an arcade game... and is a lot realistic...
2009 is the best PES ever undoubtaley

Exaclty.. thats what frustartes me, its just not right.. im not for a fully realistic game but at least leave the common sense true..

I've never thought PES is hard.. I always win by around 7-0 and I find games vs "top teams" to be easier than other simply because they have a normal formation while the weaker opponents play against me with a 10 man defense.. i don't know if the cpu does that intentinally but it just frustartes me that I can beat Manchester United 9-1 but go 3-0 against Club Brugges...

i'm gonna have to spend some time in training mode with this game to get used to the dribbling and passing movements. i've started of slow and everything is way more difficult to do than in pes2008. i don't like how when your clear on goal a defender can catch you even when your a fast player, that's unrealistic. shooting is difficult but i been missing ridiculous sitters even when i place my shots. passing is goin a bit wayward, but i see you have to be really accurate. i learn to play this game in and out, give me a month off solid game play it will become second nature to me. i'm caught in to minds about the game, but i know by this time next i will be saying i liked it.

p.s. keepers seem good because shots don't really test them, untill you hit them low across goal.
