PES5, do i need to hold any directions? or do i let go of all directions and just R2+shoot?

Could somebody please answer my man yaohan over here?!? I'm starting to get excited.. I haven't felt this way since I first learnt the 1-2 back in WE7 days... I hope my rivals are not members here... Or maybe they already knew... motherfxxxx holdouts!!! Ok guys please let me know if we need to direct the shot, tap or hold down direction?! Can't wait to get home and get on my practice pitch!!!

Direct your shots as always (if your team is going right, then up is the left corner and down is the right corner from the player's POV). I usually just start holding the direction as soon as my animations leading up to the actual shot finish. This is about when I hit R2 if I want to do a controlled shot, too... IE right after you hit square. If, at any time between pressing down square and your actual foot hitting the ball, you tap R2, you will do a control shot. Pretty sure this also applies to aiming.

Thanks Jake I know what you mean now.. But back to directing the shot, at what point do you let go of the up or down of the direction pad? If you hold it down for too long does that mean the shot will go wide of the post? And since we're on this subject, at what point would you let go of the R2 button, would it be just after the ball has left the player's foot?? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I get this right that's all.

Another thing about the R2 button that i have found, is that when you are runing with the R2 button pressed, and pass the ball, i find the short passes much more accurate, especially when passing to strikers in dangerous positions.
You dont have to continuosly run with the R2 depreesed. But if your looking for a good forward pass, hit and hold the R2 before you pass it.

R2 is a MUST in PES5
Usefull for placing shots and giving them that "curving" effect.

Some players are better at those placed shots than others (Ex: Micolli is a true killer, Eto'o misses a lot of them), and I don't think Shot Acc or Shot Pwr have that much influence on the shot. On the other hand Shot Tech has a much bigger effect.

I normally use that shot in diagonal movements:
Example- From Left to Right with a Right footed player.

This is an important point, some players prefer 1 type of shot over the other. It is important to learn which method your strikers and midfielders prefer.

im a WE10 player:

hey, we are talkin too much about da r2 button, but...what about da r1?

if you use R1 instead of R2, you will make a tiny, soft, and very damn cool shot to pass the ball over the goalkeeper when he tries to broke your ankles, remember romario? he made near 80% of his career goals using this glamurous way to beat the goalies in one on one situations...

try it with: any player in a one on one vs. the gk.

i will try to explain how the WE-PES shooting system works:

if you shoot using square only, u´ll get a mid-power shoot (ex: germany 06, brazil-croatia, kaka).

try it with: players with good accuracy and shoot technique (ronaldo, zlatan, rooney, sheva, zidane, scholes, román)

if you shoot while running with r1, you shoot a rocket...

try it with: rooney, c. ronaldo, scholes, adriano, ballack, gerrard, cisse, davids, and with any player you see could have chance.

if you shoot while running and then press r2, you will get a strong mid high and very controlled shoot (great for trying over the 16.50 line) everyone

if you shooot while holding L1, the kicker will try to pass the ball over the goalie´s head, with a hiiiigh and long ball...

try it with: any player who can shoot while the goalie is out...

if you shoot and then tap L1, the player will shoot a softly and a little high ball to "wash" the goalkeeper, this is one of my favorite ways to score, with a little practice, you will be able to make "futbol champagne" kind of goals just like the del piero´s one vs. germany...

try it with: any forward when the goalie is running to you...

and this is the way to shoot a REAL NUCLEAR BLAST:
its works mostly with shoot-powerful players, with the ability to shoot well from long distances...you have two options: to throw the ball a little forward (L1+R1), or while you are long running (R1 many times), then press square as many times as you can until you reach half power bar...try it with adriano, ballack, riise, seedorf, cisse...it is really cool, but you will need a lot of space to make it...

hope this could help....

MANU FOREVER...

(sorry about my broken english)
