Been tinkering with this for a few games - There's a new ''special ability' called 'line positioning' - if you give a star to your mids and fwds, they don't seem to stray offside so frequently, and check their runs more sensibly.

But yeah, that's a lot of editing to do...

I beg your pardon?
I don't agree with changing players ability stats. Konami did lots of work getting the balance right and I'm not gonna start messing with it. I just about destroyed my PES3 option file by editing player abilities, and I won't be doing the same to 4.
Plus if you get used to your edited players, then go to a tournament, you will be expecting things some players can't do on the default option file.
The players who need the star will already have it...
That's just my purist hardcore view anyway.
I would just change my tactics and try to only pass when players are on side, althoug I don't really have any out of the ordinary off side problems, just what you would expect, the odd one or two a game.

yeah I agree with him, I never really change players stats unless they are completely wrong like Ronaldihno in PES 3, I was merely saying that offsides REALLY bug me

I have never edited real players stats, never. It ruins the game for you and others.
Especially if you share an option file with your mates like I do.
Making the real players better is basically cheating...

some of the off sides decisions are really tight, it would be good if they just changed that a bit to give the forward abit more of an advantage. It's hard enough to get yourself in good position just for it to be ruined by a really tight off side. Half of them would'nt be called in real life.

It's supposed to be realistic, linesmen and refs don't always get it right. Just adds to the flavour in my view.

I agree with my hetrosexual friend jMz. Everybody should stop complaining about offsides. I like running my guys up for offsides trap it frustrates people. If you have problems wih offsides then run through the trap be disciplined. Frustration is good makes me want to masterbate and release my seed.. Ok God bless you all and have great new year, and pray wanking can save the world. LET THE TRUTH SET YOU FREE....

I dont mind changing the stats, if they are completely wrong. like Robben's stats and Fabregas etc. Konami doesnt know EVERYTHING, so if they get a few players wrong, we have the ability to change it; that's what it's for!

But I am realistic when I change these stats, so I wouldnt give Nistelrooy a star for this offside thing, as he IS very often ofside.

But to just rule tampering with the stats out completely, because Konami has 'supposedly' done very much research etc, to me, is a BS argument. It's very clear that not every player has the correct stats. It would also have been impossible to expect that from Konami, as there are thousands of players in the game.

If you want this game to be realistic, then you should also be realistic yourself, and edit those stats that are NOT correct. And not just making players better at some things, but also making some players' stats worse when you feel the stats given to them, are too high.

Agreed...We gamers collectively do more play-testing of PES than Konami could ever do, and if we can find ways to improve their game, why not? If there was a way of decreasing the number of penalties awarded, I'd change that too.

If you spend most of your time in ML mode like I do you'll know that editing stats doesn't make a blind bit of difference. They return to default anyway...
People often forget that players improve when they have a red or orange form arrow.

True, but changes made to special abilities carry over to ML. (another bizarre example of Konami inconsistency)

I get the point about the form arrows, they can make quite a difference if most of your players are on red/orange.

well apart from that there are also the response stats. the higher the response the more chance there is that the player will get caught offside
